Nick's P.O.V.

"The good news, or the bad news?" The doctor asked simply and tears started to roll down my cheeks slowly.

"B-Bad news." I choked out. The doctor nodded his head and locked his eyes with mine so I knew he was being completely serious with whatever he had to say.

"Demi's on a drip right now that she'll need to keep in for the next hour. In it, is a medication which will help her blood cells multiply to replace the amount of blood she lost whilst she was giving birth... and I'm sorry, but she had to give birth without you when she came round." I missed my daughter being born, but Demi was awake. I didn't know whether to cry out of sadness about missing my daughter coming into the world or out of happiness that Demi was even awake. "The good news, is that even though that little girl is very early... she's breathing on her own, she seems to have nothing wrong with her physically. We'd still like her to stay here for a week or two, just in case... Demi will be okay within the next couple of hours, so we've taken the baby away to the nursery so Demi can rest." Tears started to fall harder, but this time out of happiness. I wasn't going to lose my girlfriend or our daughter.

"Can I... can I see her?" I asked and he nodded his head, motioning for me to go right on ahead. I wasted no time in rushing into Demi's room and she looked over at me with a small smile on her face. She looked so fragile and weak. I walked over to her, holding onto her hands and I leaned down, kissing her forehead. "Will you stop scaring me like that? One day you're going to give me a heart attack." I said softly and I smiled when she laughed tiredly, squeezing my hands but her smile dropped after a little while.

"I... I didn't even see her before they took her away." Her voice was breathless. I sighed and pecked her lips then her forehead as I sat down on the chair right by her bed, the two of us on the same eye-level.

"Just rest, honey... the sooner you rest up, the sooner we can meet our little fighter." I assured her, letting go of one of her hands and I ran my fingers through her hair, watching her eyes start to close. "I love you." I whispered.

"I love you too." She whispered back before falling asleep, the drip in the back of her free hand. I never took my eyes away from her peaceful face. Her hair was clinging to her sweaty forehead and she was pale, but still completely flawless. Love was an understatement for what I feel towards this girl.
