Once Upon A Time... (EddMatt)

A Magical Night

Matt smiled brightly as he looked in the mirror. He was wearing a dark purple suit and a small crown he only wore at formal gatherings.

Matt glanced over at the long purple dress folded on his bed. For a split second he thought about wearing it, but decided against it. It would be hard enough to convince his father of his relationship with Edd without the dress.

The prince sighed, putting away the dress in his wardrobe.

"Matt?" Edd poked his head through the bathroom door. "Is everything alright?"

Matt instantly became cheerful again. "I'm perfectly fine! I'm just excited to go to the ball with someone as handsome as you."

Edd blushed slightly and made an 'aw you' gesture. He walked out wearing a dark green suit.

Matt turned slightly to hide his red blush. "You look wonderful."

Edd grabbed his hand. "You look pretty handsome yourself."

Matt let out a small giggle. "Thanks. Now come on, we can't be late."

The knight nodded and let himself be led down the hall by Matt.

Edd began to wonder about Matt's parents. Would they like him? Edd wasn't really all that great, but he hoped to at least impress them somehow...

Who was he kidding? The king and queen would never like him. He be rejected and forced to leave and Matt would never love him again and-

"We're here!" Matt said cheerfully, snapping Edd back to reality.

Matt was about to step through the doors, when Edd grabbed his shoulder. "Matt..? Your parents are going to hate me... aren't they?"

"What!" Matt exclaimed, placing a hand on Edd's cheek. "Of course they'll like you...!" Matt paused. ".....Probably...."

"Matt! You're supposed to make me feel better, not worse!" Edd scolded, smacking Matt lightly on the arm.

Matt smiled down at Edd. "I'm just teasing. You'll be fine."

"Really?"

"Really."

Edd took a deep breath, a look of determination on his face. "Let's do this."

Matt nodded.

It took all of Edd's willpower not to kick down the door for a dramatic entrance.

Matt motioned to a servant, who bowed and opened the doors. Edd gasped, the most magical scene laid out before him.

"Introducing Prince Matthew of the Purple Kingdom and Sir Edward the Green" someone announced.

Polite clapping filled the air, along with some screams from fangirls. Matt hooked his arm with Edd's, and began to walk down the long staircase as he waved at certain people.

Edd didn't really register what was going on. His eyes were wide, trying to take in as much of the scene as possible.

Matt looked down at him and giggled quietly. "I take it that you like it?"

Edd gave Matt a tiny, dazed nodded.

"It's wonderful." He whispered in amazement, stars in his eyes.

When they reached the bottom of the staircase, a small blue blur nearly tackled Matt. Edd jumped to assuming a fighting stance, but fell flat on his face.
