| THE AFTERMATH:
CHAPTER FOURTEEN
THE FINALE |

"Hayley has Hope and Freya. Take Rhea and our brothers and go now. Marcel will not hurt me," Rebekah turned to the vampire in question, "Not if he knows what's good for him."

Klaus helped Elijah to his feet whilst Kol helped Rhea, before vamp speeding the wounded out of the compound. On their way to the Lucien's apartment, Kol was deteriorating more and more by the second. As was Rhea. It had turned from Kol helping Rhea to both of them helping each other equally, it was surely a sight to be seen.

They burst through the doors of the apartment, both Rhea and Kol stumbling in behind Klaus and Elijah.

"Freya!" Klaus called out. Hayley paled once she saw Elijah's wound, even more so when she saw Kol's bite and Rhea's wound combined with the blood.

"Elijah.." Hayley started, he shook his head as he be Klaus took Kol and Rhea into their arms, helping them over to the sofa, "Don't. We deal with it later."

Kol slumped on the sofa whilst Rhea knelt in front of him, taking her hand in his own. Her skin was pale and beads of sweat dripped down her face.

Kol gasped slightly in pain, "I am going to die."

Hope could be heard crying in the distance, "You're not going to die." Klaus told his younger brother, but they all knew that all of their chances of survival were extremely slim.

Kol chuckled breathlessly, "Now that sounds familiar. Isn't that what you said to Finn and Cami?"

"Look, Lucien engineered his venom from the seven werewolf packs, so maybe, that's the key to a cure." Klaus concluded, he needed his family to survive. He couldn't lose anyone else.

"Oh great, that's the first piece in a puzzle none of us will be alive to solve. I'm poisoned, Rebekah is hexed, Rhea only has until the poison in that bullet reaches her heart and our brothers are bitten. We need four different cures to four different ailments, each of which could take years to find, and none of us will make it through the day." Freya wasn't usually negative, but even she couldn't deny the odds weren't in their favour.

Rhea took to taking care of Kol, not letting anyone else get close to him— she laid her head on his chest as he used some of his remaining strength to play with her hair. Freya looked on at the two, both so close to the end but not wasting a single moment with each other. Her heart broke for them.

"You know, maybe it's fair that I pay for what happened to Davina." Rhea whispered painfully, at least maybe now she was experiencing a little of what Davina had gone through.
