Investigative Update Regarding Anna Harris Disappearance

FREDERICK – In order to provide an update on the progress of the investigation into the disappearance of Anna Melody Harris, the Frederick County Sheriff's Department is releasing an excerpt from the timeline of events occurring this morning. In addition, the 911 call from Anna Harris's parents made this morning, will be released and incorporated by reference into this release.

The FCSD is also releasing to the public a description of Anna Harris, as well as the make, model, and license plates of a car she may be traveling in. Anna's most recent school photo is provided below for the public to use when searching for her. At this time, this is being treated as an abduction case, and a potential suspect has been identified.

The following is based on the Frederick County Sheriff Department's (FCSD) radio communication (times are approximate):

08:33: 911 Call Received (Transcript below)

08:35: Officer dispatched to [address redacted]

09:01: Officer arrived at [address redacted]

09:05: Preliminary interview conducted with Henry Ross Harris.

09:15: Preliminary search of the premises and surrounding area conducted.

09:45: Preliminary Interview with Catherine Louise Harris conducted.

09:52: Officer dispatched to Frederick High School

10:01: Officer conducted interview with Principal Caroline Chapman of Frederick High School. Officer interviewed relevant students and staff. The substance of these interviews is confidential at this time, to protect the identities of the minors involved. These interviews pointed the FCSD to a potential suspect in this case.

12:00: Catherine Louise Harris and Henry Ross Harris arrived at the FCSD for official Incident Interviews.

13:00: A potential suspect in the case was identified. Officers attempted to confirm the whereabouts of the suspect with no success.

14:00: A potential witness to the suspect was contacted for an interview.

16:00: It was confirmed that the potential suspect did not show up for work today. The suspect's car was unable to be located.

At this time, interviews in the case are ongoing, and although it is too early to name any specific persons of interest, the Frederick County Sheriff's Department does believe they have a solid lead on the perpetrator of Anna Harris's disappearance. If anyone has any information about Anna Harris's whereabouts, they are encouraged to call the police, using the emergency number (911). If anyone sees Anna Harris, they should not approach her, as the person or persons she may be traveling with are quite possibly armed and dangerous. Instead, the police should be contacted immediately upon any sighting of Anna Harris.

Anna Harris was last seen wearing a white sweater, with dark blue jeans and brown ankle boots. She has long, brown hair, green eyes, and is about 5' 2" and 100 pounds. Anna Harris is believed to be traveling in a red BMW convertible with Maryland plates reading: 965-AAK. If this car is sighted, immediate police contact is requested. The Frederick County Sheriff's Department thanks the public for their cooperation and diligence in the ongoing search for Anna Harris. We anticipate this situation developing throughout the night, and throughout the coming days. Anna Harris's parents are expected to make a statement sometime tomorrow, assuming Anna has not been found by that time. In addition, search parties will be formally organized starting tomorrow.
