Worth

I found myself stirring. I felt a hand grasping mine.

My head throbbed. I tried to get up when someone helped me up.

"How are you feeling sport?" Ruka's voice reached me.

"Wha...What happened?" I asked as I felt dizzy.

"You got stabbed in the chest. You frightened poor Alina. Though...Her memory as a doctor returned...she still has no clue to who she is." Ruka replied.

Then it came to me. I had been stabbed, as I tried to protect Alina. The attacker panicked and ran away but....

I looked at Alina who had slept off near my bed. It was her hand that held mine

"Alina nursed you back. You blacked out for 3 days." Ruka put a cigarette to his mouth.

I looked at the window. I was back at home. I heard a small voice and watched as Alina stirred.

"huh.." Her huge brown eye met.mine. I blushed.

"Hey! Alina...Ryu is awake." Ruka smiled.

Instantly Alina snatched the cigarette from his lips and glared at Ruka.

"Ryu-Kun not well! don't smoke!" She yelled at him.

Ruka looked baffled and then uttered a few curses.

"Ryu-kun! Are you still in pain? Why did you save me?" Alina asked me.

"what are you talking about? You were in danger." I replied.

"But...But...I am not worth it." Alina looked downcast.

Ruka suddenly looked at her.

"Alina...You just said it....Alina...Alina do you really not remember anything?" He grabbed her.

"I am not worth it..." Alina kept whispering.

"Alina!"

Suddenly she screamed. She clutched her head and screamed.

I ignored the I.V. and grabbed her in my arms.

"Calm down Alina! Alina...look at me." I said urgently while hugging her.

Alina struggled against me. Ruka having no choice tried to grab her arms.

Alina punched him causing him to cover his nose.

Suddenly, she stopped struggling and she slumped in my arms.

"Sho...Now she hash calmed down?" An odd nasal tone asked.

I looked at Ruka. I could not help but laugh. His nose had swolled twice its size and was black and blue.

A little blood trickled down his face.

Alina was still unconscious even after Ruka's nose got treated.

"Back then alsho, whenever we tried to shave her life, she shaid the shame thing..."I am nosh worsh itch." Ruka started the conversation.

"Ruka...with your broken nose, its difficult to understand what you are saying." I replied a little sympathetic.

He gnashed his teeth and then sighed.

"The wordsh she shaid before the schreaming....she ushed to shay that whenever shomeone tried to help." Ruka tried again.

"Why did she even think she is not worth being helped?" I asked a little astounded.

Ruka shrugged and continued to hold nose and moan in pain.

Alina woke up a little after night. She seemed groggy, otherwise fine.

"Ryu...Ryu..." She muttered my name as she came to.

I could not help but blush. She opened her eyes and looked at me innocently.

Her eyes then widened.

"Ryu!!! You were hurt! Are you okay??" She asked hugging me.

I nodded. My heart was racing. There was no doubt. I was falling for her.
