It’s had been days since I’d last talk to Damon it was all that was on my mind for some reason I wanted to know more a lot more. I was sitting in my room with Jailen I texted Jace hoping he would answer he’s been on edge ever since we came back home he always around me and Jailen and when he’s not he has my brother checking up on us and of course with no surprise Derrek walks in the room.
“Hey you doing ok” he said coming into my room
“Yeah I’m fine what’s up” I said as if I didn’t know what he was doing here
“Nothing just wanted to see you and my niece” he said smiling at me
“So how’s you and your mate” I said as I watch his face light up brighter than a Christmas tree
“she’s good I can say that she’s made me happy I don’t remember the last time I was this happy” I can see it in his face he was telling the truth even I can see the difference in him since he has been with her.
“Yeah I’m glad you can find someone you can trust there are very few people you can trust now”
“Makenzie don’t start this is different”
“No it’s not what if that was me in Damon shoes what would you do”
He sighed “I would do anything to get you back but I would have went to my pack and asked them for help instead of just stay here we could have helped him”
“He must have been scared Derrek”
“Makenzie why are you protecting him like this he betrayed you”
“Because when I had no one he was there ok when I stayed up crying he was there and I know that Damon had his reason I know him he wouldn’t do this unless he had no other choice he protected me and cared for me when no one else did he was my friend when I didn’t have one he was my big brother when I thought that my real brother hated me and didn’t want anything to do with me” he got quiet
“I’m sorry Derrek” I said getting closer and hugging him he sighed and hugged me everyone had been on their guard even me I didn’t mean to snap at Derrek.
“It’s alright Makenzie”
“Can I please just see him at least talk to him at least?”
