Chapter 19/I'M GOING TO MISS YOU

With the exam over, we were all allowed out and we rushed through the halls of the school. Everybody wanted to see their family and then join in watching the big yellow bus drive away with all of Spring Falls uninfected. Outside Amada's parents watched disappointedly holding on to Amanda while she shrieked 'Take me with you, take me with you'. I couldn't see Mom and Eve I guessed they were around somewhere or late. Mom was always late. If she ever arrived on time I wouldn't recognize her.

'I'M GOING TO MISS YOU SOOOOO MUCH.' I texted to Marta

Everybody was really happy. After a while, the Soldiers open the way from the school and our small party of possessed were escorted to the back of the bus. Amanda was still totally shouting her head off at the injustice. Just then I got a text from Marta.

'HAVE JUST SAID GOODBYE TO MOM. LOOK AFTER HER' she texted.

I saw Marta march with the others

'SURE.' I texted back 'FOREVER. WHEN FIGURE OUT YOU'RE NOT POSSESSED. YOUR GOING TO BE BACK WITH US NO TIME'

I felt like I was sinking. I could now see Marta from in the window of the bus. She looked on the edge of loosing it. She was trying very hard to hold it all in.

'I AM ON BUS. I'M WAVING ' I got in another text. I could see her waving and mouthing.

I waved back. It seemed weird. I should be the one on the

'I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU PASSED THE TEST. DOES THAT MAKE ME BAD?' I text it to her.

'No' Marta replied 'BECAUSE I SWAPPED PAPERS WITH YOU.'

If 'uh?' Could be turned into a solid physical form that was me then.

'YOU SWAPPED PAPERS?' I texted. I looked up at her soulful face. This was difficult for her. I could tell, the tears were starting to swell in her eyes.

'WTF' I mouthed to her clearly. The cheering crowd was almost loud enough to get rid of the noise of the engine starting.

'I HAD TO' Marta replied. 'YOU KNOW THAT NAME ON MY FOOT. I NEVER TOLD YOU WHO THAT WAS? YOU MADE ME PROMISED ME TO TELL YOU WHO WHAT WHAT WAS'

I didn't text BACK I just put my hands face up and move my eyebrows to say 'yeah?'

'IT'S KAITLYN' Marta texted 'I'VE ALWAYS WANTED YOU. I KNEW I COULD NEVER HAVE YOU.'

'ALL THE BOYS IN SPRINGFALLS COULD NEVER WIPE THE MEMORY OF YOUR KISSES AWAY,' said Marta.

OH C****P how could I be so blind! Marta was gay. All those boys were Marta trying to ungay-ify her self.

The bus's engine revved up and the crowd moved aside for it to pull away. I reached up and put my hand to the window. Marta put her hand to the window matching mine. The bus slowly pulled forward. I kept going until the bus was too fast to keep up with. It left the school and I stood watching drive down the long street going towards the fence. Amanda was holding onto the rear fender being dragged on the ground behind it. There were a couple of cars following it. Everyone kept cheering. I was on the edge of tears.

'OMG' I texted back with one hand 'I'M SO SORRY'

'DON'T BE' Marta Texted back 'I'VE BEEN TRYING TO SUMMON THE COURAGE TO SAY THIS FOR AGES.'

'YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE GONE FOR ME' I texted.

'THIS IS THE BEST THING I'VE EVER DONE. PLEASE FIND YOUR LOVE. WHEN YOU DO NEVER LET THEM GO. I HAVE, AND ITS THE BEST THING EVER. PROMISE ME YOU WILL'

The bus stopped near the gates while they opened and passed beyond the fence.

'YES,jouney' I texted.

The bus continued away while the wire fence closed behind it.

'FYI THERE IS A NUTTY PROFESSOR GUY IS ON THE BUS. HE SAID I HAVE NOTHING TO FEAR BUT FEAR IT'S SELF. They are passing out hoods to put over our heads fojourney, that's nice. ' Marta texted back.

'BYE' I texted. I wanted my last text to be something meaningful. I could hardly text my eyes were full of tears.

Amanda was walking back in dust and tears. She must have dropped off near the gates.

'WTF' Marta texted.

WTF what a weird response, I thought. Like as far as last messages go this was bad a disappoint. I looked up from the expensive phone Alexander had given me. A huge dump truck just ran in front of the Bus. The convoy stopped. From the side, a tractor came along and used a digger blade to flip one of the car's full of homeland security agents on its sides. Men carrying weapons rushed up to the bus. It was like a bank heist or some complex military attack. Except they threw smoke grenades but they were brightly colored. Explosions of Red, Blue, Violet happened everywhere and It took me a moment to guess. It must be PI terrorists attacking the bus and rescuing the possessed I guessed. Except for all the people on the bus weren't possessed.

Sherrif Al and the deputies all rushed to their police cars and drove off to help the home land people. Just then a car carrying the yellow bulk of General Samael flew by towards bus. From what I could tell the PI terrorists had already gone.

I felt like I had taken an emotional barrel ride over Niagara Falls. I wasn't sure what to feel, sadness at Marta going shock over her final revelation. Or the weird joy over the attack.

I looked around I was floppy like all the energy had gone. The crowd was dispersing and I looked around but still couldn't see Mom and Eve. This was strange I was sure they would appear. I had written a big reminder for both of them. I decided to go home and find what had happened to them but this time I would swing past the maternity hospital, and pick up the next clue if it was there.
