I looked out the eye hole thingy on the door to check my porch and the visible street and home area. Seeing nothing suspiciouse, I ran around my house, locking anything and everything that could be locked, including my candy stash hidden in my room. As soon as I was sure that was everything, I heard the back door open and close quietly, but not quietly enough to avoid detection. I grabbed the bat next to my bed and tip toed down the hall towards my kitchen. I peeked around the corner and froze in fear, the man from the forest was searching through my cupboards. He turned around suddenly and looked me straight in the eye, I gasped quietly and backed away. I didn't hear him move from where he was and turned around, bumping into something, well, someone.
