Chapter Seventeen

I walked into the house, my mouth still wide open.

Tyler was at a friend's house, and so is Macie, which means it's going to be a lonely night.

I grabbed an Apple for dinner since I wasn't really hungry, and told Kara goodnight.

"Goodnight sweet heart." She smiled warmly, before going back to her TV show.

I ran to my room and face-planted on my bed, letting a long sigh escape my lips.

I changed into a pair of pajama shorts and a tank-top before climbing into bed and turning the light out.

I closed my eyes and was almost asleep when my phone went off.

I grabbed it and flicked it on, the light nearly blinding me.

There was one unopened message from an unknown number.

Unknown: Are you okay? I saw you leaving our place just as I was pulling in- T

Me: Yeah, it's just been a long day. How did you get my number?

Tyler: I'm not telling you my resources

Me: Idiot

Tyler: Is that seriously the best comeback you could come up with?

Me: shut up

Tyler: again with the fantastic comebacks

Me: don't be sarcastic

Tyler: goodnight darling

Me: really? Did you have to add in the cringey nickname?

Tyler: what's a bad boy without giving cringe worthy comebacks? I'd be a disgrace to my kind

Me: you really are in with the weak-minded group

Tyler: *sticks tongue out at you*

Me: you're very childish

Tyler: why thank you darling

Me: goodnight

Tyler: goodnight....darling

Me: ugh!

I turned my phone down and set it on the nightstand, closing my eyes one more time.

I woke up to my phone ringing and vibrating.
I grabbed it and pressed it against my ear, already furious at whoever called me.

"Hello?" I asked groggily, my voice cold and harsh.

"Geesh, sorry!" A familiar voice spoke through the phone.

"Nick? Why are you calling?" I asked, my voice wavering slightly with the thoughts of yesterday flowing through my mind.

"I just wanted to hear your voice, beautiful. Is that so wrong?" He asked, and my heart fluttered.

My heart really needs to stop reacting when I talk to guys I like.

"N-no." I stammered, and he chuckled on the other side of the phone.
