I made it to the lunch room to find Candy at our normal table. I looked around and quickly approached her. "Candy." I called to her once I was close enough.
She whipped around towards me. She looked at me up and down. Candy stood up from her seat and put her hands on my shoulders. "Alice! Where have you been?" she asked me.
"Look, who cares about that right now. Are you positive that you don't want to come with me?" I asked her.
She took a moment to think. "I-I don't know. . . Can I think some more about it?" she asked me, cocking her head and raising an eyebrow.
I shook my head. "No. Well, yes. You have 10 seconds to think of your choice." I counted the 10 seconds in my head.
Candy thought hard about it. She locked eyes with me and nodded, showing a slight smile upon her face. "Okay, I'll go."
