quit school?

I decided just to give school one more chance. Riley is coming back so maybe they won't bother me. After getting ready I called my mom upstairs.

‟I need to be hooked up to that oxygen tank" I point to my other oxygen tank in the partially opened closet. She moved over to the closet and took it out bringing it over to me.

‟Are you ready?" She asked me with her hand on the tube that disconnects the oxygen tank from me

‟Yeah" I say bracing myself. She disconnects the previous tank and hooks me up to the new one. I was hyperventilating once I could breathe again.

‟You okay?" My mother asked placing a hand on my thigh

‟I'm fine." I say slowly trying to steady my breathing she was still watching me and I giggle. She chuckled back and I repeated, ‟I'm fine" I get up from the bed and followed her downstairs.

Once she had dropped me off and I was at school I quickly looked for Riley. I used to be a rebel, but now I can't do bad things simply because of Riley and being diagnosed with something so deadly.

I searched everywhere Riley would be or could be. Riley didn't come to school. Ugh. I was so frustrated because I knew there wasn't much done to Missy and her friends because her daddy was named principal a week after she got suspended the last time.

I just knew her punishment isn't as brutal as it should be. I just became cautious as I was walking through the halls all alone.

To my luck I walked around a corner and bumped right into Missy. She smiles again and then those two girls again. I sighed lowly knowing what is gonna happen next is gonna be really bad.

We just stood there in awkward silence before she whispered to the two girls on both sides of her.

‟You almost made me get in trouble. Whatever. My dad is the principal and I can get off the hook easy" She bragged as one of the girls stood up from tying her shoes I guess? I ignored them and walked to class.

At lunch I began to wheeze. I looked down at my oxygen tank and the gauge was really low. I looked and saw there was a hole in the oxygen tank. What the hell? That girl. Who was supposedly tying her shoe. I stood up and ran to the nurse's office. I was woozy. She quickly put the oxygen mask on me and I feel my vision slowly clear

‟Thank you" I say breathing the oxygen and she looked at me worried

‟This is the second time this week Maya." She say sitting beside me

‟I'll do something about it" I replied and my voice was muffled so I spoke loud enough so that she'd hear me. That's it. I'm quitting school. I can't stay here an get bullied.

My mom came for me not too long after and she seemed upset. ‟I can't keep coming off my job to pick you up. This is my final strike for the month"

‟Sorry mom. I'm quitting." I say softly wiping a tear from my eye

‟I don't want you thinking I wanted you to drop out."

‟Mom. I can't take the bullying. This is my choice" I replied sternly and she didn't respond. Later on I have support group. I guess she is going to take me there now. ‟Thanks mom. I love you" I say before opening the car door and standing out

‟I love you too" She replied with a smile as she drove off. I feel a hand go over my head and push the door before I put my hand on it. I look up into the face of Lucas. ‟Thank you" I sighed and he walked beside me

‟How are you?" He asks with a small smile

‟I'm good. You?" I replied as we stopped before we got to the other door that would take us into the hall, where we sat and discussed

‟Great." He answered plainly

‟Where's your sister?" I asked slightly confused tipping toes to look over his shoulder into the hall

‟She's already in the hall. I just had to go to my mom outside" He explained looking into my face weirdly and I smiled only making us both laugh ‟Shall we go inside ma'am?"

We entered and sat in the chairs. This time Lucas sat behind me and his sister. Once we prayed we began to discuss. They got to me quicker than I thought either that or I was really zoned out.

‟Your turn princess" Lucas whispered in my ear before I stood up ‟I was forced to quit school because of bullying. I was bullied twice this week so I decided to drop out" I say sitting back down and Kate looked at me sincerely

‟I'm so sorry that happened to you. I wish you all the best" She said placing both hands on her chest ‟Bullying is never okay" She added moving on to the next person. After support group Lucas and I were talking outside while his sister was talking to Kate

‟I'm so sorry to hear about you being bullied. I don't understand why they just pick on people" He says crossing his arms ‟It's stupid. They pick on you. You're probably the sweetest person. It seems so"

‟I am." I answered as Kaelynn came from inside

‟Maya right?" She says holding a hand out for me to shake

‟Yes and Kaelynn?" I replied shaking her hand ‟Nice to meet you. Lucas basically talks about you all the time. Even though you guys just met recently."

‟That's so sweet." I say with a smile and I'm sure my cheeks are a bright red

‟Awe you two are blushing" She says making my cheeks burn and then Shawn pulls up behind another car. His sister was so blunt. I loved it, we exchanged numbers and I got into the car with Shawn.

‟Hey kiddo. How was it?" He asked Shawn and I have a great relationship. I cover my face with my hands giggling ‟What?"

‟I think I like someone" I admit looking at him happily and he smiles looking at me

Sorry for the wait. I was working on a drawing. Not the best artist, but I get things done.
