By the way,
we have the intention of seriously going after and crushing you kids.
I faintly heard my mother's voice moments before we were attacked suddenly. From a distance, I saw the reflection of light on the chains that my mother was using. She was aiming directly towards Todoroki.
"Move!" I pushed him as hard as I could muster. He stumbled as he tried to regain his footing. Suddenly, she had retracted her chain, bringing herself to us. As she slid and tried to stop the momentum, she peeps up towards me. Her grave gaze sent a message to me. Before I had the chance to react, she had already tried to attack.
Todoroki acted quickly, creating a small barrier of ice between her and me. "Follow me!" he shouts. I turned on my heel swiftly and bolted away, catching up with him. He peeks back just to make sure I followed his instructions.
"She's insane." He comments. "I wasn't expecting that, really. We should avoid battle."
"Okay." With hesitation coursing within, I reluctantly nod.
I have a plan, really. I know how to render her useless. It seems that he knows what he is doing. What's the point, then? I suppose it's best to stay quiet.
"Hey," I start. "I'm warning you. She is very skilled. Like, really. It's scary. She can probably kill someone in the blink of an eye."
"She won't kill us. She loves us too much." We turn a corner
"...Yeah, I guess. But she is really quiet. We probably won't be able to hear her. She's like a damn ninja." I say as we turn another, being led into an open-ish street. The feeling was very ominous. Very eerie. Very obscure.
"Wait." I stop him. There was a taste that I recognized. The taste that always cued me to stay as far away from my mother as possible.
Bloodlust. She was pouring with bloodlust.
Chains wrapped around Todoroki's neck. He grasped onto them, desperate for air. Above us was a phone line of some sort. He was pulled up, dangling.
"Oh, this is a bit harsh. Maybe I shouldn't hang you from your neck." She says as she nonchalantly wraps his wrists and torso instead. "There!"
"(Y/n)! Run!" Between coughs, Todoroki shouts.
"Run? As if I would let her go!" She retorts. Soon after, she darts towards me knees my stomach and pushes my face down with her entire hand. I land on my back, hardly able to breathe. It felt as if I was running on pure adrenaline. I summon my blood pistol and shoot at her multiple times. She leans her head back in response, a bullet only grazing her forehead. I knew all too well that she would be able to dodge all of them. I only did this to get her away quickly.
After pushing my feeble body to stand, I run towards the exit. I glanced back quickly to see Todoroki giving me a nod of approval.
"Man, damn kid!" My mother wiped the blood off of her forehead. "Coulda killed me. I taught her well."
"Why are you letting her run?" Todoroki asks as he was still dangling.
"I can get her in 2 seconds if I wanted to, really." She shrugs. "As for you, why don't you trust her?"
"What do you mean? Of course I do."
