Pumpkin

One month later...

I sit there and watch him walk back and fourth.

He ran his hands through his messy hair and groaned each time his mind started to wonder.

"I don't get it." He stops in front of me.

"What's there not to get? English is meant to be the easiest subject.." I say as I rest my arms on my knees.

"It's not for me." Reece sighs out and sits next to me.

My eyes wonder at the light blue sky before looking back at the pages in the English book.

"Well why do you think he did that?" I asked one of the questions on the page.

He frowns, "Because he's a lunatic?"

I chuckle at his response. "No, not because he's a lunatic.. Why would Romeo do that to himself just for Juliet?"

"Um–" He taps his chin as he looks down at the words and reads the line. "Because Juliet is the love of his life?"

"Exactly, Juliet pretends to be dead so she could avoid marrying Paris, but when Romeo sees her fake death, he can't take it and kills himself with poison. Eventually Juliet does the same because she can't handle it either."

"That's bullshit."

"That's history." I smiled at his doubtful face.

He runs his hand through his hair one more time before standing up and walking back and fourth again over the school's roof.

"If you understand everyone's feelings and positions they are in, then you might get an A plus on this." I try to tell him but he doesn't understand.

For the next 15 minutes he continued to walk as I read the last paragraph of Romeo and Juliet over and over again. The more I read, the more I felt sorry for these two love birds.

Soon enough the bell rings from beneath us, we grab our books and pens before running down the steps that lead to the roof.

"Thanks for trying to help Elle," Reece says as we walk down the hallway. "Even though I still hate English."

I shrugged, "It's okay, I didn't have anything better to do anyway."

He gasps jokingly, "Hey so I'm not important?"

"Mm yeah, you really aren't." I go along with the joke before he laughs.

"Right, not important, I get ya." He sarcastically sighs out. "Anyway, I'll see you later okay?"

"Sure, see you later."

He smiles at me before jogging towards a few members of the football team. I look around the hall for a second or so, before I decide to go to my locker and grab my things.

It was the end of the day, I couldn't wait to get home, I was tired and just not happy to be at school.

As I reach my locker, I see Abbie and Rose standing near it talking. I put my head down and open the door.
