A child learns how to interact with others by observing. The reason a baby will babble at you is that it has seen others make those noises at each other and feels the need to do the same.
Many things you learn as a kid you really learn by watching other people.
I grew up watching shitty lives grow worse and worse for people I was taught to love. I decided quickly that I wouldn't let that happen to me.
I learned that pleasurable things like trust and happiness were dangerous, and that nothing (and no one) is forever. I decided a long time ago that every good situation and every great person will change and it will always hurt.
I saw things I can't bring myself to wish I hadn't, because I've learned so much.
