Lafayette looked at his brother, who despite only sharing his mother showed a lot of resemblance to him. They were close and in spite of belonging to very different groups of friends they both knew they would always be there for each other. The younger man moved to America in his sophomore year with little English skills and a thick French accent. His older brother, who was a junior at the time did his best to help him with the language, speaking French fluently but eventually, most of his English came from his three best friends, Alexander, John and Hercules, with Lafayette becoming nearly fluent in a few years.

Alex didn't come along until a year after Lafayette, but he was soon taken in and loved by the rest of the group like they'd all known each other since they were born.

Thomas Jefferson however mostly hung out with his friend James, James and Thomas had been best friends since they were twelve. They had never really been on the friendliest terms with Mulligan and Laurens, but Thomas decided to set his differences with them aside immediately when he saw the smile on his younger brother's face when he told him he'd made friends on his first day.

When Hamilton arrived, however, Jefferson tried his best not to tear the kid's throat out when he just would not shut up. See, Alexander Hamilton had moved to New York from somewhere in the Caribbean, Thomas didn't know where and frankly didn't care. Despite being the same age as Lafayette, he was instantly moved up a year, to Thomas' year. As much as Thomas loved his little brother, he made sure not to miss any chance he could to argue with one of his best friends; but just in class of course. The heated debates between them on every subject possible nearly drove their classmates and teachers insane, but they never stopped.

Lafayette's friends were over at their house every so often making Alex and Thomas having to try and keep their mouths shut every time they encountered each other; they didn't want to hurt Lafayette by having his brother and best friend at each other's throats every time they talked.

But it wasn't like Lafayette was oblivious of their disputes, having heard a great deal of complaining from both sides about the other, but as long as they kept their cool when Laf was around, he didn't mind.

Time passed, and they graduated from high school. Thomas was finally free from having Hamilton sitting behind him in every class, going on and on about whatever the subject was, sometimes something entirely unrelated to it, he stopped listening after the first year.

But then the day came when Thomas Jefferson received a letter that he knew would change his life, no matter the content. Princeton was a school he had always wanted to go to, and Thomas was smart; he wasn't Alexander Hamilton, but he was smart. He had hesitated before opening the letter, but Lafayette told him he'd rip it open himself if Thomas wouldn't so eventually he did. There was a lot of jumping and yelling and calling James who was over in less than five minutes. Then there was more jumping and yelling.

But as Lafayette found out later the same day, one of his friends had also gotten accepted to his dream school and seeing that only one of his friends had applied for college that year there was a slight chance that that same person was a person his brother didn't get along with particularly well. But Lafayette loved both of the soon to be college freshmen, so he decided to not tell either of them about the other going to the same school, it was a long few weeks.

But eventually, they had to find out and being aware that neither of them would give up on Princeton just because the other was going too, Laf didn't stress out about it.

A year passed, and the three guys graduated and joined Alex and Thomas at Princeton, they all applied to a bunch of schools, not expecting to get into their first choice, but they did, all three of them. Well, now they were the freshmen and nothing but ready to start school. They were assigned roommates; Lafayette and Hercules ended up together completely by coincidence and Laurens hadn't found his out yet. For Thomas and Alex, it was a new year, a new roommate as their school always changed roommates each year without a specific request, and neither of them liked their previous roommate specifically, so it was time to switch.

Lafayette looked at his brother as he walked into his and Hercules' dorm and dramatically collapsed onto the couch.

"Mon frère, what's going on?" Laf said, sitting down on the chair next to the couch. Their parents were quite the opposite of poor, so both of their dorms were already the biggest the campus had. They did insist on them still staying on campus instead of living in an apartment off campus for some reason; they didn't mind.

Thomas sighed so loud Hercules jumped out of his room, curious about what was happening.

"Remember when I told you I'd be switching roommates?" Thomas said, still laying on the couch in despair.

"Oui."

"Well guess who my new roommate is."

In those words, Alexander walked in through the half open door in frustration.

"I am not going to be Jefferson's roommate under any circumstances, I'm going to complain to the school and request a new roommate."

"Wait can you do that?" Thomas sat up on the couch.

Lafayette looked confused over to Hercules who seemed to be laughing his ass off.

"Wait wait, je ne comprends pas, are you two roommates?"

Alex and Thomas both looking pissed stared at Lafayette, which gave him his answer.

He couldn't help but let out a laugh.

"That's not funny." The two said in unison before looking at each other loathingly.

"Mon amis, come on it can't be that bad, you've known each other for a while, you can make it work." Lafayette chuckled.

"Can you really request a new roommate?" Thomas said, giving his brother a glare before turning to Hamilton.

"There must be some policy; I didn't think to check last year, I could have gotten rid of Burr earlier." The last he said more to himself.

"Well let's go," Jefferson said, standing up from the couch. "If we both complain they have to let us switch right?"

"I guess," Hamilton said annoyed.

"It's worth a shot," Thomas responded, and the two walked out of the dorm, leaving Lafayette and Hercules all by themselves.
