Thomas looked at Alexander sitting next to him on the grass beside the pool in the backyard.
Everyone was in it but them.
Alexander didn't want to go into it for an unknown reason and Jefferson had sat down next to him after pushing everyone into the pool.
It wasn't exactly hot outside but Lafayette refused to not go in the pool he'd been waiting for since they left for school.
Everyone else just followed his lead.
"What do you mean?" Thomas responded, looking down at the smaller man next to him.
"You know, where you'd use to go on your bike with your binoculars."
Thomas chuckled.
"You really wanna go there?"
"Yes!" Alexander exclaimed, smiling.
"I want to see that place so bad," he continued.
Thomas was stunned, he genuinely seemed like he wanted to go.
"Okay, but we gotta go at night, you know."
Alexander smiled widely.
"Yes, please, can we go tonight?"
"Tonight?"
"Yes, after everyone's gone to bed even, just you and me."
Thomas looked down at his hands and then up at the swimming pool where his brother and Mulligan were having a contest on who could jump further into the pool like twelve-year-olds.
They looked happy.
Really happy.
"Sure."
Alexander jumped up
"Yes!"
Everyone looked at him and he jumped back down to where he was sitting and started laughing hysterically.
His sweet, joyous laughter could be heard from a mile away. It would echo through the halls and into each and every room in the house to the point where Jane would peek her head out with a smile on her face.
It cheered everyone up. It was at times like then Thomas forgot all about every trouble.
He could see his brother glancing a smile from where he stood above the pool looking at them right before his boyfriend showed up behind him and pushed him into the pool.
The laughter endured.
