They had a 3 day weekend at Princeton so Lafayette and Jefferson had decided to head home and visit their mom.

Of course, when Lafayette went somewhere Mulligan tagged along and if they were both going Laurens was going too and anywhere Laurens went Madison followed; and with all of them going Alexander wasn't going to stay alone in his dorm the entire weekend so of course, he was coming too.

They left for Brooklyn in a day and weren't coming back until Monday so Alexander made sure to finish the homework he had due in a month so he wouldn't fall too behind.

He sat in his beloved library which he hadn't been to since he was dumped. But that wasn't on his mind. Honestly, he couldn't care less about Eliza anymore.

Mulligan was still reluctant to talk to Hamilton since his parents passed; and although he was getting better by the day, he still had those moments where he'd just stare into thin air for a while; a look on his face that broke everyone's heart.

Yet he never confronted him about withdrawing so much from him; they still hung out as a group and Mulligan had even become friends with Jefferson and Madison oddly enough.

But it hurt Alexander a little bit that one of his; if not his closest friends wouldn't talk to him.

He was excited for the weekend though; Lafayette's house was huge and he hadn't been there in a while.

It was going to be fun, getting away from everything.

Jefferson had convinced him not to study at all the entire weekend.

Which was the reason he was freaking out and spending his whole night in the library to catch up on work he didn't even have assigned yet.

The only upside to your professor thinking you're his son: you get everything you want.

Which in Hamilton's case was oddly to study more.

It was 11 pm; the library didn't close until midnight on Thursdays.

It looked empty, but he wasn't alone.

Hamilton noticed Aaron Burr sitting a few tables over.

He and Aaron had been roommates the previous year.

They didn't really get along.

Everything about his attitude was annoying to Hamilton, he thought of them to be exact opposites.

But they hadn't talked that often; maybe he didn't know him well enough to judge.

Hamilton decided he'd done enough studying for the night and quickly shut his laptop and gathered his books; putting them in his backpack. He placed it on his back and put the chair on top of the table before heading towards the exit.

For some reason, as he passed Burr; he felt a need to stop.

"Hey," he said suddenly, leaning onto the table Aaron was sitting at.

He looked up at him; almost in surprise.

"Hamilton...hey."

"What are you doing?"

"Um," Burr looked down at his books and back up at Alexander.

"Studying?"

"Right. Of course, that would make sense."

There was awkward silence for a while.

"How's Theodosia?"

Hamilton remembered Burr's girlfriend, he'd met her before but barely.

Burr's face dropped but he still somehow kept smiling.

"Um we, we broke up."

Hamilton raised his eyebrows.

"Oh, I'm sorry."

"It's okay."

Burr still smiled.

The tension in the room was awkward.

Hamilton went through his conversation topics in his head.

"So...what are you doing for the weekend?

Burr hesitated as he replied.

"I, um, I guess just staying at my dorm, my roommate was kicked out last week so there's no one there."

Hamilton realized Reynolds had been Burr's roommate. He nodded and stood upright as if to signal that he was leaving.

"But that's fine, he's a dick," Burr spoke.

Hamilton laughed.

"You got that right."

Burr joined in with the laughter even if he wasn't completely sure what they were laughing about.

He liked to feel like he was a part of something.

Like he belonged.

The laughter died down and Hamilton smiled.

"You know, we're all going to Brooklyn for the weekend."

Burr smiled back politely.

"Cool."

"I mean, if you want to tag along I'm sure no one would mind."

"What?"

He was confused, why would anyone want him there?

"I mean, if you have nothing better to do, it's an open offer, it's gonna be fun I promise; Lafayette and Jefferson's house is gigantic."

Burr nodded, he wasn't sure if Hamilton was kidding or not.

"Yeah, I mean, are you sure your friends won't mind?"

But why would he be joking?

"Yes, don't worry about it, they're cool."

Burr smiled again.

"You remember Laurens, Lafayette, and Mulligan right?"

Burr chuckled.

"Of course."

Hamilton was getting excited. This was a good idea, if he knew Burr correctly he was really going to spend the entire weekend in his dorm alone.

"Oh also Jefferson is obviously coming and Madison. He and John are dating now did you hear?"

Burr didn't have any family, or friends for that matter. And now he and Theodosia had broken up.

"No, I heard about Mulligan and Lafayette though, right?"

"Yeah, John and Madison are all over each other."

Burr laughed.

"When did they happen?"

"I don't even remember, they've just been acting like newlyweds since they started going out."

Burr laughed.

"Sure, if your friends don't mind; I don't have anything better to do."

Hamilton put his hands up.

"Well, then it's settled just come by Laf and Herc's dorm tomorrow morning at 11. Pack for...I think three days."

Burr smiled.

"Okay."

"See you tomorrow, don't outwork yourself."

Hamilton waved him a small goodbye and left.

He looked back to see Burr waving back at him.

He could swear there was something different about that smile he wore all the time.

It seemed genuine
