They had been at Princeton for a week now. For the freshmen, it was already a lot different than they expected. In those cases, it was nice for John to have a sophomore roommate, who could give him advice.

When Laurens and Madison were younger, they were friends, quite good friends actually. They spent most of their time together, in and outside of school. Although James was a year older, he was never ashamed of dragging the younger kid with him.

Then middle school came. They'd never been in separate schools, having met at recess in elementary school.

The friends assured themselves and each other this would not change anything. They were wrong.

Thomas Jefferson, new kid; moved to New York from Virginia was in need of friends, and the rest was history. He didn't particularly like Laurens, and with Madison's sudden admiration of him, he slowly reduced his invitations for him to hang out with them.

But to be fair, if it weren't for Jefferson, Laurens never would have met Mulligan, so maybe he had something to thank him for.

Currently, the two were sat on their couch after both recently coming home. They had grown up considerably since elementary school.

"So, do you know how it went with Mulligan and Lafayette?"

Madison asked hopefully.

"Oh, yes I was told it was beautiful; according to Alex Herc waited for Lafayette at their dorm, got so nervous he passed out, Alex found him, said he was probably just at his and Jefferson's..."

"He passed out?" Madison laughed.

"Yeah, Alex said he found him lying on the floor and when he woke up all he talked about was Lafayette," Laurens told.

"Wow."

"I know. Anyway, they went to Alexander and Jefferson's; he had to be approved by Jefferson or something, I think, according to Alex and then went to him, said something and kissed him."

Laurens smiled like an idiot; he was happy for his friends.

"He did it. Wow, I feel kind of proud."

Madison wasn't lying.

"You should be, you talked him into it," Laurens said, giving James a pat on the shoulder.

"Thank you." He chuckled.

The events got Madison thinking about what he said to Mulligan. He told him to go for it. And it worked out. Maybe that's what he should have done. Maybe it wasn't too late.

Alexander had been inside his room at his desk nearly all day, having finished three assignments due in weeks. But now after about five cups of coffee in the past three hours, he had to go to the bathroom.

Jefferson sat on the couch, eating mac and cheese as he went over his notes from his last lecture. All of a sudden, there was a knock at the door.

He quickly put the bowl down as he stood up and jogged to the door.

As he opened it, he recognized a face he hadn't seen in a while.

He opened his mouth to speak but didn't get the chance before Madison's lips were softly touching his.

Alexander opened the door; he really had to go.

He heard the front door open; he gazed over to where Jefferson was standing, he'd started to like him more in the last few days, although he'd never admit it.
