warning: death

...don't panic though

Washington hadn't seen Mulligan, but knowing he would report Reynolds made Jefferson feel a little better; although Lafayette still wasn't okay, he knew he wasn't.

When Lafayette was new, some day when Laurens and Mulligan weren't around, some kids had decided to show the new kid who talked back to them a lesson.

Washington who at the time was a high school teacher, who was also at the same time back in school himself to get a doctorate in history; saw them. He quickly broke up the fight.

That was one of the only times Thomas hadn't been there for his brother.

But it was also Washington and Lafayette's first meeting and the day Washington had already become a better father figure for Lafayette than his actual father; even though he'd lived with him for years.

Jefferson didn't know where to look. He was walking down the street, wondering where the hell Mulligan could be.

Then he realised; no one had tried calling Mulligan since Alexander did before he came to their dorm.

Stupid.

He picked up his phone and quickly found Mulligan's contact; he'd gotten his number so he could know where his brother was some time; that wasn't important.

He waited for a while, hoping he would still pick up.

And he did.

"Hello?" He heard a confused voice on the other line.

"Mulligan? Thank god, where are you, I've been looking all over for you."

"Thomas?" He heard the voice nearly whisper.

"Yes, where are you?"

"I'm at the hospital."

Thomas nearly jumped in surprise.

"What? Why?"

"My parents, they," Mulligan trailed off.

"What?" Thomas asked calmly.

"I don't know what to do." His voice cracked.

"What happened to your parents?" Thomas asked; still calm.

There was silence for a while, Jefferson wasn't sure if Mulligan was still there before he spoke, just his voice reeked of sorrow.

"They were in a car accident; they got hit by a drunk driver."

Jefferson's face dropped as he stopped walking.

"Oh my god."

He heard Mulligan trying to choke back a sob.

"Are you with someone?" He asked evenly.

"No, I don't got any other family."

The poor man.

"What hospital are you in?"

"Princeton Hospital...they were on their way to visit."

Jefferson looked up, Princeton Hospital was luckily just right across the street, he'd unconsciously been heading to the café next to it.

"I'm actually right outside; I'm gonna come in, okay?"

"Okay."

He hung up.
