**Alex's POV**
I didn't know what to do.
She just started crying.
I stood there momentarily confused, than once my brain started working I ushered her from Austin's doorstep into her car.
She was sobbing now. Thick, loud sobs, that traveled all throughout her body until they escaped through her lips. Elizabeth's sobs sound strangled, they hurt to hear.
I wrap my arm around her, holding her close. Is that a good idea? I don't know, I'm not good with crying girls.
Elizabeth quiets, but I can still feel her shake underneath me.
"I'm sorry." She whispers against my chest.
"It's okay." I say, because what else can I?
"It's just-" She pulls away from my grasp, and buries her head into her hands. "-I'm trying to find a reason, someone- something to blame for Alice's death. But I can't. It was her- she killed herself, Alex. No one pushed her off that cliff. No one told her to jump. She did that herself. She made that decision."
Tears were starting to fall again from Elizabeth's eyes.
"She could have stayed but she didn't. " Her voice cracks. "Why did she leave me!"
I don't answer. What can I say? So I keep quiet.
"I never said goodbye."
Now I turn to look at Elizabeth. I can tell shes breaking. She's just starting to crumble. And because I'm stupid and act before I think, I lean forward and press my lips against hers. Maybe if I kiss her long enough I can keep her together for just a little bit longer.
I pull back, and I watch as Elizabeth flutters her eyelashes thick and coated with tears, as she glances up towards me. Her hazel eyes look at me, surprised.
"We don't get to choose when we go, but when you do have that choice, letting go is much easier when no one knows. You can almost convince yourself you're not selfish." I whisper. I wasn't sure where the words were coming from, but they were deep and true.
"She loved you Elizabeth. But when somebody want to die, like really wants to die. There's nothing you can do about it."
