The Good Old Days

Colby sighed, he hadn't slept since last night, he was so sad, he couldn't believe he hurt Jess. Maybe he was just a scumbag. He sighed, he was gonna miss her, he was still in love with her, but he knew this was for the best. He cheated, he made a mistake, he didn't love Zahra, but when Jess left for her tour, she was there when Jess wasn't. He rubbed his hands on his face and furrowed his eyebrows when there was a knock on the door, he got up and opened it, seeing Jon 

"Hey man," he said smiling 

"Where's Jess?" Jon asked, switching his keys from side to side 

Colby looked at him confused, seeing him look on the stairs, Colby looked back seeing Jess standing there with suitcases, Jon walked past him and took up one of the suitcases and walked back out, to the car, putting it into the trunk and then coming back for the other one, Jess began to follow Jon until Colby grabbed her wrist, she took one look at him and sighed 

"Can you give us a minute?" she asked Jon who nodded and went to pick up the remaining 3 suitcases then went outside with them so he could pick them up from there

"I'm sorry," Colby whispered 

"I know, but actions always have reactions. I'm sorry too, but I can't stay here anymore, I knew about the affair before you told me about it, I chose to live with it because I loved you, now you come tell me about the affair, you say you're sorry, but what's the point of saying sorry if you're just gonna keep doing it?" Jess said 

"There's a lot I can put up with Colby, but last night? Was the last draw, I'll always love you, but according to you, there's nothing left to fight for, I'll see you whenever, or not, it's crossfiring at this point," she admitted, walking to Jon who stood at the car waiting for her

Colby sighed and watched as they drove off. He knew he had made a mistake the moment he had went with Zahra to his hotel room. He made a mistake continuing the affair, he made a mistake lying to Jess. He really was the scum of the earth 

He made himself a cup of coffee and sat down, looking at the picture of him and Jess that was on the mantle. It was of them at Jess' parents house, they were looking into each other's eyes with equally wide grins, he remembered that was the 5th year of their relationship, when Colby told her he wanted to be with her forever and Jess' mom snapped the picture 

Colby looked at the other one, where Colby had her bridal style on the mountains, looking up at the stars, Joe had taken that one. 

Then he looked at where they were dancing for Jess' dad's wedding, Colby had on a black suit and Jess had on a red dress and their foreheads were touching and Jess' arms were around his neck and his were around her waist. 

Colby felt like crying when he saw how happy they were. He ruined all that because he couldn't keep it in his pants and he was selfish, he was on the road alot, yeah. But so was Jess, and she remained faithful through it all, Colby realized he really was a screw up and now, he lost the one woman he was truly in love with, all for a ring rat.
