*2 Months Later*
"What was it like?"

"Was he amazing?"

"Or was he, like, a total asshole?"

These were the questions I had to deal with when I came back to school that November. I'd already missed a lot of my senior year, and returning to school was definitely not my choice. My Mom was the one who convinced me to come back to be with my friends one last time. Well, "friends." Apparently, everyone wanted to be my BFF since I became famous and returned to school. I'll admit: it was hard.

Really hard.

I would smile politely and answer the questions as nicely as possible, though just the thoughts of him brought tears to my eyes.

My best friend, Olivia, though, she was still the best.

"So, Shawn just thought you cheated?" She asked one day after school when we were walking to my car.

I nodded.
"Well, technically we weren't even dating, but pretty much yeah," I answered, which she responded with a sad smile as we climbed into my BMW.

"I saw videos and pictures of you performing," she chirped. I smiled over at her as I started the car.

"And?" I asked.

"You were awful," she teased with a smirk. I rolled my eyes playfully and scoffed.

"Gee, thanks," I joke and she laughs, taking out her phone.

I pull out of the school parking lot and roll down the windows as I drive. Oh, how I'd been so homesick for the L.A. air.

Olivia is silent for a moment before bringing a hand slowly to her mouth, the other clenching her phone.

"What's wrong?" I glance worriedly at her from the driver's seat.

She looks sadly at me; the sad puppy look again.
"You don't wanna know," she says quietly.

I nod and attempt to keep my eyes on the road, all the while trying to focus on Olivia.

She sighs and begins reading from her phone screen.
"Charlie Puth, accused of simple assault in September of this year, has been tried and found guilty of his crimes today. Puth will be imprisoned for a minimum of 8 months with a bail of $100,000."

Tears fill my eyes so I can't see clearly anymore. I attempt to blink them away as quickly as possible, but they just come back. Luckily, Liv's house isn't too far, so I just continue to drive.

"Kris, are you okay?" Olivia rests a comforting hand on my arm. I nod tensely and continue driving.

"Pull over, Kristen, you're scaring me," I haven't even noticed the speedometer has gotten faster and my knuckles have turned white from gripping the wheel.

This was all my fault. I caused Charlie all this trouble, anyway. He was better off without me. Everyone was better off without me. I couldn't stop the tears from flowing; I heard Olivia begging me to stop next to me, but I couldn't comprehend what she was saying. Finally, I reached her house and calmly pulled into the driveway.

"Get out," I said through clenched teeth. A hurt look flashes across her face before she gathers the courage to speak.

"Kristen, please don't do anything stupid," she pleaded.

"I said get out," I repeat; this time she obeys and steps out of the car.

I watch her walk to her front door and turn to meet my gaze one final time. She gives me a small wave and opens the door.
