Rose sighed, continuing to circle the area she'd been assigned with purposeful, calculated movements. She couldn't help but wonder when she'd be able to actually fight someone, instead of playing around with the small fry. Her eyes noticed a few explosions in the area Erza was clearing, and the girl couldn't help but feel envious of how everyone else was probably having fun fighting the bosses.

"They must be having a blast," Rose mused aloud, noting that the pulses of magical energy which emitted from the warzone were particularly strong. Minerva, Erza and Kagura, huh?

Rose paused to admire the flashes of light and the explosions for a brief moment, before she continued her patrol of the area cheerfully. Despite her calm demeanour, the girl was filled with nerves – she was here to prove that Fairy Tail was back, and stronger than ever.

As per the instructions given to her by Mavis, Rose turned the corner and walked down a pathway which had stone arches overshadowing it. She trod lightly, her boots barely making any noise against the stone floor.

Rose once again cursed Erza for forcing her to change outfits.

What was the point of dressing up, anyway? Rose would probably ruin the new clothes during the competition. Apparently the outfit did serve some purpose. Fireproof, flexible and with the added benefit of style! (the sarcasm which dripped from Rose's words when she relayed this to Erza earned her a scolding).

Besides, it was sort of cool. Dark and intimidating, just how she liked it. There were black, detached sleeves kept tied to both her arms with golden ribbons, and there was enough space in them to hide a knife or two. A black shirt with a high neck clung to her tightly, allowing for ease of movement. A belt around her waist secured the pleated knee-length skirt, with a crimson stripe lining the hem. It somewhat resembled the outfits which Lucy and Erza would wear sometimes.

Rose huffed slightly. The outfit was tolerable, but she was still upset over the greatest change.

Her hair.

Lucy had decided that the fringe had to go, and her spirit, Cancer, had helped to do so. Rose now had a less intimidating look, her dark hair framing her face and her usually hidden left eye uncovered. Without the hair to hide behind, her face gained a softer edge and her eyes a brighter light. The rest of her hair had thankfully escaped the scissors, falling down her back in light waves.

"I suppose it's nice that they let me keep my muffler, at least," The phoenix slayer mused to herself, tilting her head to the side. "By the way, I know you're behind me."

Rogue froze in his movements but remained silent as the girl turned to fixate him with a calculating gaze. Rose noticed the presence of a few extra marks on his face – scratches which had definitely not been there the day before.

She shrugged it off – who was she to care? They were here to fight, not talk.

Thankfully, her opponent was a person of few words.

Rogue dissolved into the shadows. Rose sensed him appear behind her and would have attacked, but she knew he would easily disappear again. Instead she turned to face him and felt a grin curl her lips upwards when he disappeared again. Before he could attack her from behind like he so clearly planned to do, she twisted and managed to nail him in the stomach with a punch.
