You stood, frozen in fear, as the bokoblin ran towards you. Why was it that your legs never seemed to move when they were needed most?
The first bokoblin skidded to a halt in front of you, raising it's club in the air, and finally that's when you shook off your panic and could move again. The monster swung at you with it's large club, screeching when you ducked and it missed. Narrowly avoiding being slammed in the head by a chunk of wood, you back away from the bokoblin.

The other two monsters were surrounding you, one weilding a spear and the other with a small sword like Link's with a sheild. Panicking, you look in every direction, trying to find a way to escape. The bokoblin with the club screeches and leaps in the air, and quickly you jump to the side to dodge. Doing this put you in the path of the bokoblin with the sword, and when he swings it at you, you know you wont have time to dodge this one. You close your eyes and wait for the pain.

Link rams into the bokoblin, slamming the weapon out of it's hand and onto it's back. He turns to you.
"Now you owe me twice for saving you." He hisses, before turning back to the struggling bokoblin. He hesitates for a moment before plunging his sword into the monster. It screams and explodes into a puff of purple smoke.

As he runs towards you, an arrow stabs into the ground near his feet. The archer bokoblin was preparing another arrow, and Link motioned to it.
"You take care of that one." He says. "I'll finish the other ones."
You nod, despite your nervousness of possibly getting shot and killed by an arrow. Running towards the archer post, you quickly grab the sword that the slain bokoblin had left behind.

Creeping around the edge of the clearing, you slowly sneak up to the archer post. The monster has it's sights set on Link, and has no idea you were stalking it closely. It had quite bad aim, hitting the ground by Link multiple times, unable to strike the hylian with an arrow. You quietly start to climb up the short ladder, trembling with fear but determined to help. You haul yourself up on the platform, the bokoblin still having it's eyes set on Link. You raise your sword, preparing to make the fatal blow.

You close your eyes and swing.

The monster shrieks as the sword strikes it, and you flinch at the horrid noise. Tumbling off the platform and falling onto the ground, its bow lands a few feet away. You open your eyes, taking a few deep breaths to calm yourself down. A pile of the monsters remains lay on the ground, along with a small bundle of arrows. You jump down and collect the arrows, but hesitate to touch any of the monster's remains.

Link finishes off the final bokoblin and walks over, smiling.
"Great job, (y/n)!" He says, looking around at the camp. "I hoped we wouldn't have to deal with any monsters, but now that they're dead we can take a weapon for you! And we get to eat!" He motions to the large chunk of meat cooking over a fire. You smile happily before putting your new sword away, and picking up the bow.

You examine the poorly made bow, seeing that it was just a stick with a string attached.
No wonder that bokoblin couldn't aim. You think to yourself, amused.
However, despite the poor craftsmanship of the bow, something about holding it just felt right to you. Familiar, in a way.
Could this mean something? You wonder, curious.

You decide to keep the bow.

You glance over to Link, and you see that he's already digging into the steak. Giggling, you sit next to him and eat as well. After you two ate as much as you could eat, Link was strangely quiet.
"Is something wrong, Link?" You ask, concerned.
Has he been this quiet since I met him? You wonder.

His eyes are seeming locked to the ground as he shrugs.
"I hesitated to kill the bokoblin." He said quietly. "It could have killed me, it could have killed you. But still, I hesitated. I was afraid to kill it." He falls into silence for another moment before continuing. "Would the old me have done that? ...Am I ever going to be the same person I was before?"

You open your mouth to reply, but no words come out. You can't think of anything to say. What could you even say? This was so unlike Link, it was strange for you to see him like this.

There's a long moment of silence before you finally reply.
"...I was afraid too." You whisper. "When I killed the archer, I had to close my eyes. Even afterwards I had to take deep breaths before I was calm. I don't know if the old me would have done that, and maybe I never will." You admitted, your eyes flooding with worry. "But... I don't think it's your fault. You didn't ask to lose your memory, and even if the old you wouldn't have hesitated, so what? I don't think it makes you any worse of a person." You smile reassuringly. "So don't beat yourself up about it, ok?"

Link looks up at you before smiling back. "Thank you, (y/n)." He says. "I don't know if I'll ever be myself again, but that made me feel a little better about it. Now lets hurry up and get moving before we lose too much daylight."

You nod and follow Link as he exits the clearing, and you finally continue on your journey. The number of trees start to get smaller until you finally break out of the forest and can get a good look at your surroundings.

You're a close distance away from the broken down building you saw earlier, and beyond it a small structure sticking out of a hill. Glancing down at your Sheikah Slate, you realize that the point of your map was that structure in the hill, and you point it out to Link.

You two walk to the beginning of the stairs by the broken down building and turn to Link.
"Should we go inside?" You ask.
Link shakes his head. "Who knows what could be lurking in there!" He replies. "I think we're better off going to where the map is telling us to go and come back here later."

You nod and lead the way towards the pointy structure, your excitement for what lays ahead growing with every step.
