My Sweet Roomies Re - Written ( Raika Ikagami Route)

Chapter 56 - Brief Respite Part 2

"Oh no you don't need to apologize, are you a doctor Ms. Ikagami you kinda give me that impression."

"Huh?! Oh' no I'm not a doctor, I was a training to be a nurse..." she said awkwardly.

"Oh' so that explains it, wait...was training?"

The dumbfounded nurse smiles gently.

Raika just stood there in silence she obviously doesn't want to talk about that subject.

"Oh! Forgive me, I didn't mean to pry, You're a big help! Thank you for taking care of all this."

"Oh' N-no it's nothing,"  she said with a clouded expression.

"More importantly is there something else I can do to help out?" she interrupted hastily the nurse kinda gets her message.

"As a matter of fact, there is, if you don't mind that is.."

"I don't, that's why I'm here after all." Raika smiled.

Like that, Raika helps out with my checkup, and the checkup is completed faster than usual.

"Thanks, Ms. Ikagami! an experienced hand is really a great help after all."

"Please you're exaggerating, I'm just glad I could help out,"

"Beautiful, smart and modest Mr.Kitagami is a lucky guy."

"Please..." said Raika with flushed cheeks.

Lastly, the nurse says one thing to me.

"You have a really wonderful girlfriend, take good care of her, okay Mr.Kitagami?" 

"I will, always."

At that the nurse exit the room.

Raika gets' shy at those words.

I'm also happy that she praised Raika but it hurts my heart slightly.

(She does her job really well...But she already has given up on becoming a nurse..)

I know her decision is hard for her, but what can i say? I don't know what should i tell her...

(What should i do?)

As i worry about this with anguished...

"Hey, Mina! Do you want to check out the hospital courtyard for a bit?" she asked while folding my sheets.

"Huh..? W-Why all of the sudden?"

"A change of phase? Being stuck up in this room every day is boring right?"

As she says this Raika looks out the window and looks at the nurse walking in the hallway.

"I already ask permission to the head nurse she said it's okay." as she finished her sentence the nurse that performed my checkup comes back with a wheelchair in hand.

Why a sudden excursion? I wandered to myself.

A little while later...

"Alright, Mr.Kitagami it's time to get up now, we will transfer you to this wheelchair alright?"

"Okay."

"Uhm...May I help out too?"

"Please do Ms. Ikagami."

"Yay!"

(Ahahaha...these two are already like best friends.)

"Okay, Mina wrap your arms around my shoulders," said Raika

"And then, lift your right leg slightly." said the nurse.

"Y-yes." as I move my body according to their instructions.

"Okay, then we'll move you, carefully now," said Raika while she's slowly standing to help me up.

 They'd move me to the wheelchair fairly easily.

"Mina, are you okay? Did that hurt at all?" worried Raika.

"No, i'm alright." just then i realized.

(Thinking about it...when Raika was going to training..)

(Didn't she struggle incredibly hard to move a patient to a wheelchair..?)

But now it went surprisingly smooth.

(When did you get so good at this?)

"Alright then Mina, shall we go to the courtyard?"

"Okay."

With a small sense of wonder, we leave my room.

With Raika pushing the wheelchair, we arrive at the courtyard.

"Hmm~ Outside might be good from time to time," I said inhaling my first fresh outside air.

"I know right? Since your always in your room, hasn't it been a while since you felt the sunlight?"

"Yeah, you're right."

The sunlight and Raika's kindas soak into my heart with warmth,

(Raika really is always thinking about her patient feelings, and your experience working at the Vixens would make you a great nurse.)

But---------

You've already stopped aiming to be a nurse.

As i think that, i get a little sad...

"Mina, is something wrong?"

"No, it's nothing..."

I smile to avoid showing my sadness.

While holding on to complicated emotions, I spend that day relaxing with Raika.

Then, a few days later...

Raika has come to visit me again today and brought me out to the hospital courtyard.

"The weather's nice again today~"

"Yeah, isn't it?"

"Like you said Raika coming outside from time to time is a good change of phase."

"I see.."

as we talk casually like always...

"....Mina."

"Yes, Raika?"

Raika abruptly hugs me from behind the wheelchair.

"Huh?~"

Her warmth spreads through my back.

"R-Raika?"

"Mina, you see...when we're together sometimes,  kinda noticed you look sad."

"I get it...You're worried aren't you?"

"About how I gave up on my dream..."

Her hugs suddenly tighten.

"Thanks."

"But...it's alright."

"I really am my dream..."

"So...Mina,  You don't have to worry about me, okay?"

These kinds of words tear my heart...

I want to stand up and give her a hug right now.

I feel so helpless...

All i can do is put my hand in her arms...

Just then...
