"What do you mean you don't know how to bake cookies?" Scott asked the smaller boy, his brows furrowed in utter confusion.

"What? Is that really that weird?"

"Well, yeah? Don't you have Christmas cookies or something? Or just, generally, do you bake?"

"Scotty, we have Christmas cookies. Of course we do."

Mitch blinked, tried digging through his mind for ever having baked anything. Ever having cooked in general. But no, there wasn't. Food had always been prepared by house elves, or, if he himself or his parents made the food, magic was used.

"But you've never made them," his friend stated.

"No... No I don't think I have. Scotty, you always forget that you've grown up with muggles, whereas I'm part of a traditional pureblood family."

"Yeah, but-"

"Ssh, if you help me I'm more than willing to try!" The brunette stated, holding his wand at ready. For some reason, this made his friend laugh. Scott shook his head with laughter, the blonde mess that was his hair flopping around.

"What's so funny?" Mitch demanded, not understanding why Scott was laughing.

"Mitchy, you don't need your wand while baking cookies. You just use your hands and a mixer. See, easy enough." Scott scooped butter out of a carton, and put the string coming out of some weird looking machine into the wall. The machine had something what Mitch would describe as a cross between blades and spoons attached to it, and when they started moving, Mitch jumped. It made a lot of noise.

He held his wand tight, eyeing the so-called 'mixer' suspiciously, all while receiving an amused smile from his blonde friend.

Baking proved fun, but Mitch didn't trust the blade spoon machine, and was very thankful when Scott put it away. Kneading the dough was fine though, and he copied Scott's actions of tasting a little bit of dough, after which he made himself promise to himself to start baking cookies, if only to eat the dough.

They made a mess together once flour started coming into play, running and laughing, Scott grabbing Mitch and smearing a hand full of flour over Mitch's arm, making the boy scream at Scott for ruining his clothes. Mitch complained about having to wait until the oven was done and the cookies were cooled down without using magic, but when he took a bite of a snowflake shaped cookie, resting his head atop of Scott's shoulder with a blanket wrapped around them, he had to admit that this was much more fun and that the cookies tasted quite some better than at his own parents' house.
