It has been 3 years since Beverly Marsh moved away from Derry, Maine. Since then a lot has happened. Beverly is now living with her aunt in Manhattan. She has changed some of her ways for one she doesn't smoke anymore and she doesn't cuss. During the first year after she had moved away from Derry she had trouble making friends. She still does. It's not that she doesn't want to, she just doesn't want to disappoint them by leaving. She knew she was going to go back to Derry. No one could stop her.
After months of begging her aunt to take her back to Derry for the summer, she finally relented. Beverly was so excited to go back. She hurriedly packed her things and soon enough she was in her aunt's car heading back to Derry.
