I Always Won

"Cole, it's not fair. You cheated. You didn't go under the same time as me".

"Then quit Miri, just stop being a whiny baby".

"I am not a whiny baby. Do you want me to tell my Pape Olive?"

"Go ahead. I'm not scared of him. I won fair and square. You just can't handle that I'm better".

"Are not. Let's go again Olive and I'll show you".

I was neither here nor there. In fact I don't know where I was in my body but in my mind I was twelve again and Miri was nine, nearly ten. We was at her house in her pool playing our mermaid game for the thousandth time. We would force ourselves under the water and see who could hold their breaths the longest. Naturally I Always won and Miri would whine and claim I cheated. Tired of her being a cry baby I would always say "then just quit Miri", but she never would. No instead she would repeatedly challenge me.

"Agin Olive. I'll win this time".

"You'll never win because I'm the king of this game".

"Shut it Olive and do it or are you scared?"

I gave her arm a soft punch but she acted as if I killed her. Rubbing her arm her eye's filled with tears. "Owww, Cole. That hurt. I'm telling".

"Shhhh... Miri don't tell. I'm sorry okay. My hand slipped. It was a accident".

"No it wasn't. Your just a mean bully".

"Please don't tell Miri. Pape will spank my ass and make me go home. I'll do anything".

"Anything?"

"Yes, I promise".

"Fine. After I win this game you have to play house with me. You'll be my husband and we will have a baby and I'll let you name it".

"Come on Miri. That's a girly game. I'm not playing that".

She opened her big mouth and got ready to yell for her Pape.

"Nooo... Miri. Fine I'll play just shut up".

Smiling she said. "I knew you would. Now on the count of three we go under".

She placed her small hands into mine and we counted together then took a huge breath and dove under. Several long seconds passed and I could tell Miri was on the verge of giving up. Looking at her I grinned and pointed up, indicating for her to go. She shook her head no and stayed put. She wasn't giving up yet but I knew it wouldn't be long. Giving her my victory smile she reached out and dug her nails into my side sending me shooting up to the surface losing.

My eye's popped open and I took a ragged breath. Fuck it's so cold now. The warm sun was gone and I was covered in snow. It all rushed back to me and I slowly sat up. I was lying on the bank a good ways from the dock. My feet were still submerged in the water. I seen the cuff on my hand but the other cuff was empty, Jax was gone.

Standing, I checked my surroundings and saw no sign of him. The bastard left me here for dead. Well surprise surprise. I Always win.

I thought about Miri and hoped everyone was okay. I took off walking but soon began jogging. I had to get warm and get home. I stepped into HV headquarters and made my way to my parent's apartment. Stepping in without making a sound I saw my parent's sitting on the couch holding each other as my Pape had a hand on mom's baby belly. Laney rested her head against London's shoulder and Dem stood off to the side holding Zoey. Sniffles could be heard. Stepping on on I said loudly. "Who died?"

My mom cried out and charged me followed by my Pape. Laney let loose a tearful sigh and Dem mumbled "son of a bitch".

I quickly answered their questions and alerted them that Jax was still on the loose but I noticed Miri missing and my gut clinched. "Miri, where the fucks Miri?"

"Relax son. She's resting in your room".

Nodding, I took off to my room. Cracking the door open I stepped in and saw her sleeping in my bed curled with my jacket. I stood just taking her in and greatful I was spared.

"I won Cole, I won.

"You cheated Miri. You scratched me so it doesn't count".

"Does so you turd".

"Fine. I'm not going to play house with you now".

She hefted herself out of the pool and stamped her foot. "Fine but you'll want to play house with me one day but I'll say no".

I grinned down at her resting and her eye's fluttered open. She remained still but a twitch of a smile hinted at her lips. "Great your even going to haunt me now huh?"

I grinned and said. "I couldn't die yet because I owed you a game of house. Let's play house baby girl".

Miri shot from the bed weeping as she flung herself into my arm's. "I was so scared Cole. I thought I'd lost you forever. We've wasted so much time being mad at each other and Olive I don't want to be mad any longer. Let's just forget the past, the hurt and start over".

"I couldn't agree more baby girl".

Miri gasped. "Your wet and cold. Let's get you dry and warmed up".

She went to my dresser and picked me out some pajamas. Laughing I said. "Oh by the way baby girl, I won again. You lost. I'm still the king of the game".

She looked at me stunned. "I can't believe you Cole. You nearly died and your acting if it was a game".

Then she grinned. "You still cheated. You made Pape carry me off this time".

I stepped up to her and pulled her in as she whispered. "My Crazy Cole".

I chuckled and looked into her eye's. Eye's that knew my soul. Slowly I pressed my lips to hers and everything fell into place. Everything made perfect sense. I slid the shirt of mine she was wearing off her along with my her panties. I stepped back taking her all in. "My God Mirimosa you are too gorgeous for word's. I was a fool but never again baby girl, never again."

"Olive please just tell me you love me".

Taking her in my arm's I placed a kiss on her forehead. "I love your cooking".

I kissed her chin. "I love how you care for our child".

I kissed her temple. "I love how you watch over me".

A sniffle was heard from her and I laid her back on the bed falling down on top of her. I took my sweet time rediscovering her amazing body, my body. When I finally entered her she moaned out my name and I'd never felt so right. "Your my life baby girl".
