Present Day  (Saturday Afternoon)

I stood in front of his door, staring at the bell.
"Gosh what to do? Should I leave?"
I turned to leave but stopped.
"But I came this far" I argued with myself. Looking over my shoulder at the dark burgundy wooden door, I approached the door again.

"You can do this" I took a death breath fixing my hair quickly.

I rung the doorbell and waited.
"No answer? Is he home?" I looked through the window by the small garden that separated it from the porch.

All the lights in the living room were off. It was 3pm on a Saturday morning, the sun was out shining bright.

I rang the doorbell again, twice.
No answer.
I started knocking then ringing again.
"I'm coming!" I heard him yell from inside.

I smiled to myself tapping my feet in excitement.
"Okay okay. Breathe Kendyl"
I held my breath as the locks began to click and the knob turned.
I gasped averting my eyes
"Uh"
"What do you want Kendyl?"
"Your shirt."
"What?" He asked confused
"You're not wearing a shirt" I breathed out
"So? You never seen a guy shirtless before?"
I flushed bright red. His chest was...something.

"I have!" I turned to look at him, his hair was a mess

"Why did you come here? I was sleeping" he stood in the doorframe, he was literally the size of the doorway.

He leaned against the frame to hold hisself up.
"Oh um-" I gripped the handle of the gift bag in my hand tightly
"Here!" I thrust the bag to him not meeting his eyes.
"What's this for?" I looked up, he stared at me intently.
"For good luck at the big game" I held out the back towards him.
"Kendly"
"Just take it. You'll need it soon"

He breathed out a sigh taking the bag anyway.
"Thanks-"
"Baby who's at the door?"

My heart rate began to speed up. It was Celine.

He looked over his shoulder then back at me.
"No one"
No one? I was no one.
"Come on I just heard you talking to someone" she persisted.

Her turned his back to me blocking her view.
"It's nothing important. Go back upstairs I'll be right there"

She giggled "Okay hurry so we can finish where we left off"
So he wasn't sleeping. He lied to me.

Her foot steps faded and he turned back to me.
I felt like crawling into a whole and dying.
"Thanks again for the gift"
I nodded staring at his feet.
"Bye" I nodded again.
The door slammed shut startling me.

"Right" I shook myself out of its slump and went to my brother's car.
"Things will get better Kay just wait and see"

"What a jerk!" Melanie hissed, I told her what happened when I went to Trent's house. He was still a jackass not much different from when we met.

"It's fine Mel" I sat the dinning table eating a bowl of oatmeal.
"No! It's not fine Kendyl! Does he even know what you went through to get him a Scout for his game? Gosh! Kay—"

She was more upset than I was, she paced back forth rambling on. I sat quietly, oatmeal now cold, thinking deeply.
Maybe I should of told him?
I shook my head in annoyance.
"I hate this" I mumbled frustratingly resting my cheek on my palm.
"So why didn't you tell him!"
"I couldn't. Celine was there, and he told me he was sleeping. I felt guilty for waking him up, then I saw her in his shirt. Nothing but legs"

Melanie scoffed pulling out a chair in front of me. She plopped down grabbing his hands.
"For crying out loud woman. Man up! Tell him."
"I—"
"Did he even open the gift!"
I looked away shaking my head.
Melanie let go of my hand, scoffing.
"Wowwwww" she said, fists clenched.
"I know"
"YO!—" I jumped, eyes wide in shock.
"Does he want to die!?!" She stood to her feet, angry over took her.

"It's fine Mel. Really I'm okay"
She looked over at me, her expression softened.
"You sure?"
I nodded embracing her in a hug.
"Thank you for caring so much"
We pulled away
"Of course were best friends" we hugged once more.

"Alright come on. Let's watch binge movies and eat tons of popcorn tonight!"
"Sounds like my kind of night"
