"Could you at least try to smile." Gilbert's father said to him as the ball was starting.

Gilbert didn't say anything, just looked at him and gave him a half-assed smile that clearly showed that he didn't want this.

You see, Gilbert is a prince of one of the many Eastern Kingdoms, and his father was the current king. But his father was stepping down from his throne for Gilbert to take over. But Gilbert didn't want that. Why? Because of what lead to his current situation.

-Flashback-

"What?" Said Gilbert in shock with what he had just been told.

"Like I said, you will be taking your place on the throne very soon so I thought it was about time for marriage. So I decided and arranged for you to marry Prince Ivan Braginsky of the Northern Kingdom. You two will be wedded 6 months from now."

"But I didn't asked to get married! Especially to Ivan! I don't want this!" Gilbert tried to argue back. This was going against his will. To be married to someone he hated and not having a choice in the matter. He didn't want this. Plus there was someone else he loved.

"Well you don't have a choice. You are my eldest son and you need to take your place on the throne. And the paperwork is already done. You will marry Ivan." His father said with a tone that didn't leave room for more arguing.

Gilbert left his father's study in a fit of rage and heartbrokenness. His own future was decided already, he had to marry someone he didn't want. Someone that didn't see him as a person.

Gilbert decided to go outside to get some fresh air so he went to the overview of where the knights trained, and today was his lucky day. The one he loved was practicing his sword techniques.

He couldn't help but stare with love and affection and look like a lovesick puppy. Roderich was perfect, he was a gentleman, had a temper, could fight and easily kill without hesitation, and he is very dominant. Gilbert was in love with Roderich.

While Roderich was training he felt eyes on him, he looked up and saw his beloved prince watching him. It was no secret to the other knights that Roderich has known Gilbert since they were

kids. And it was no secret that Roderich would easily risk his life for Gilbert's happiness and life. He decided to have a little fun and he winked at Gilbert. His beloved prince didn't fail to be adorable, Gilbert immediately ducked behind the wall that kept him from falling to hide his embarrassment.

"Oi, stop that. He's out of your league." Said Arthur, another knight of this kingdom. "And he's engaged."

"Hmmh." Roderich didn't care about what Arthur said. He knew his prince better than anyone. He knew Gilbert didn't want this and was doing everything he could not to cry his eyes out right now.

And that hurt Roderich.

-End Flashback-

"I'm going to get a drink." Gilbert said, trying to get away from all this. He left before this father could say anything.

As he went to get his drink, he couldn't help but feel angry. Did no one see he didn't want this? Did they want this to happen? Do they even care about their prince anymore? Suddenly his train of thought was interrupted by the very person he hated with every fiber of his being wrapping their arms around him.

"Hello my soon to be bride. Are you excited for the wedding? I know I am, my snow bunny." Ivan said in a tone that Gilbert wanted to punch him in the throat for.

"Go away, let me go, don't touch me, die, and why are you calling me snow bunny." Gilbert could easily kill Ivan with one finger, he just didn't because he didn't want cause a scene. He wasn't that childish.
