Blakely's POV
"Ms Blakely Wood to the office please" a naisly hight pitched voice said through the intercom.
A couple of people in my French class looked at me. This was going to be my third time going to the office this semester. I was really starting to get over it. I sighed and got up taking my books with me.

When I got to the office the first person I saw sent my heart into a frenzy. Mrs Karamakof was walking out with Nathen who gave me a chilling smile.

"Blakely" she said looking me up and down. "Uh, hello Mrs Karamakof". She walked away but Nathen stayed by the door and folded his arms, "you look nervous" he said.
"Why would I be nervous?" I mumbled.
He flashed another toothy grin, "you're right, you don't have anything to worry about".

I nodded slowly then stepped past him into the office. He stared at me for a moment before walking off in the opposite direction his mom had gone in.

Waiting for someone to see me was the absolute worst. I had an idea of what this was about, but If I was right, Lucas should've been here too.

"Blakely" Mr Harris sighed stepping out of his room. I got up and walked into his room. This was starting to feel like a routine, one I really didn't like.

"I think I've seen you more in my office in the past semester than your entire time at this school Blakely" he said sitting down across the desk. "I guess" I nodded.
"Do you know why you're here?" He asked. "No" I answered. I had about 6 pretty good ideas, some more likely than others, but I didn't feel like that was an appropriate answer.

"Well Blakely, I gotta say, it's not good".
I nodded for him to continue.
"A parent expressed concern that their child was being bullied earlier today. Not by you, but by another student, they also mentioned that you were a witness of this. I felt I should talk to you first, as you are a very trusted student, and I'm certain you will provide me with an accurate and honest recount of what you saw".

"I'll do my best" I nodded. I had to work to keep a calm exterior. Inside I felt like I was going to throw up. I didn't know what I was going to say if he asked about TPing Nathen's house. Not only was I there too, but I considered Lucas a friend and he only JUST got back from being suspended. If I believed what he was doing was actually bullying, I would've spoken up, but I didn't think it was. When he punched Nathen, it was because Nathen provoked him. The only other thing I knew of was the TPing and that was only once, for it to be bullying, didn't it have to have been done more than once?

"What happened at Nathen Karamakof's house last night Blakely?"
I took a moment to answer. I couldn't look him in the eyes as I spoke, I knew if I did I'd give myself away. "I'm not sure what you're talking about" I lied.

"So you didn't see Lucas Everett vandalizing Nathen's place?"
I took a small breath, "no Mr Harris, I didn't".
Who was I?

Why did I always go to so many lengths to protect him?
"Blakely, your car was seen outside of his house at the exact time the vandalization occurred, we have photographic evidence. Now, as you are probably aware, we the school are unable to do anything about this because it was outside of school, but I promise you, we'll do all we can to make sure whoever is responsible stops. If you can't give me a name, I will have no other lead than you. You will be the one to possibly be charged with vandalism".

That scared every cell in my body. I couldn't have a police record!

"You were definitely there that night, and you did have a motive. I personally don't believe it was you, neither does Mrs Karamakof, she thinks it was Lucas Everett, but there's no evidence of that. Blakely I know you planned on going to Yale but a police record will almost certainly end any hope you had of getting into a school like that, so make sure you think hard about what you say next".
