"And then he told me that I wasn't going! Can you believe that!" I shouted throwing my hands up. Chris rolled his eyes before speaking, "honestly, I can. Lucas says some pretty weird shit all the time".

"He drives me so crazy sometimes! Who does he think he is?" I continued. I knew I was probably annoying Chris by going on and on about Lucas but I wouldn't be able to sit still if I didn't vent to someone, plus Emma was getting food so it was the perfect chance to tell him what had happened without her around.

I loved her to bits but talking about Lucas was impossible with Emma, she hated him so much that the only input she gave was on how stupid or annoying he was, especially now that he'd kissed her, it was awkward talking about him, I don't know why, it just felt funny.

"I get why you're angry B, but...I do kinda see what he's saying" Chris admitted with a sigh. He clearly didn't like agreeing with Lucas as much as I didn't like hearing him do it, "parties Alex hosts are never a good idea, even for someone like Lucas or me who parties often, it's a lot. There are lots of hard drugs involved, girls getting roofied, everyone gets blackout drunk and no one ever leaves remembering everything that went down".

I rolled my eyes and began playing with the sticker on my water bottle, "this sounds more like a horror story than a party".
"That's probably because it is" Chris stated matter of factly, "it's not a good first party B, and Lucas knows that better than anyone else, believe me".

"Well I can't let him win!" I groaned, "I can't let him think he has that kind of control over me!"
"I don't think that's what it's about for him" Chris admitted carefully.
I frowned and looked up to meet his gaze, his eyes were guilty but I couldn't understand why, "since when are you team Lucas?" I questioned turning to the side so my body was facing him.

Chris sighed and shrugged, "I'm not. I'm team Blakely all the way, that's why I'm agreeing with him. I don't want you to get hurt and I don't think he wants that either".
I hadn't told Chris that Lucas and I had kissed again, or that we were on really good terms at the moment, so I had no clue why he was talking about Lucas as if he cared about me. As far as Chris knew, Lucas was the heartless jerk who I hated that had kissed my best friend.

"Just take him seriously, please Blakely" Chris begged.
I didn't say anything else after that because I knew Chris was beginning to get through to me. Carrying on the conversation would've led to me giving up, and I didn't want to give up.

"Blakely, I swear all you ever have for lunch is juice" Emma commented dropping into the seat next to me with 2 slices of pizza and a muffin on her tray. I shrugged and took a large chug of my juice before closing the bottle and holding it close to my chest defensively, it was good juice and I didn't like the way she looked at it.

Emma rolled her eyes at me before saying, "so what were you guys talking about?"
"Exams" I blurted our at the same time Chris answered, "football".
Emma raised an eyebrow at Chris then me and neither of us said anything.
"Secrets now?" She folded her arms, "I thought we were all friends".

"We were- we are! It's just..." I struggled for a response that would be good enough to get her to drop it. "We were talking about a party and Blakely thought you wouldn't approve. That's why we didn't want to say anything" Chris lied easily. I wasn't sure if that had been the best lie, given it was half the truth and if Emma stayed curious she would find out about the Lucas part but I went along anyway.

"Oh..." Emma frowned, "is that...Alex's party?"
"It's actually Carly's" I corrected.
"Alex, Carly, same same. They're interchangeable" Emma brushed me off before turning to Chris, "are you trying to convince Blakely to go to that party?" Her tone was disapproving.
