"Hey, kid, shouldn't you be getting to the lockerooms?" Sergi was taken out of his reverie and he shook his head abruptly. "Oh my God, yes! I'm already late." He said as he looked at his watch.

"Good luck. Knock 'em dead." He pulled on my hand and kissed my lips shortly and sweetly. "Thank you. I'll see you after." He let go of my hand and ran toward the lockerooms.

I shook my head and chuckled. "So, listen. Now that he left, I can be completely honest with you." I thought Jordi was going to say he was exaggerating earlier for our relationship's sake. I nodded as he beckoned me to approach him; as if he was about to say some big secret.

"Do you love him?" "I do." I said without thinking and he shook his hands and head. "No, no. Think about it. Close your eyes and think about your feelings toward him for a few seconds. Do you love him?"

I closed my eyes and reminisced about our romantic first meeting, the dates that followed, the times he'd snuck into my room, the fact that he'd waited 5 months to have sex with me...I must've looked like an idiot, smiling and nodding with my eyes closed. I finally opened them and looked straight at the sweet old man.

"Yes. I do love him. He is my happiness when I go to sleep and my happiness when I wake up. My day is brighter just knowing that I'll see him; that I'll spend time with him. I am most definitely in love with that man." I said decidedly. The old man smiled a sympathetic smile and I frowned. "Why do you ask?"

He took my hand between both of his and said: "Sweetheart, you seem like a really nice girl and I am just so happy that boy found you. I meant every single word I said earlier. Everything I said is one-hundred percent true and he loves you more than life itself. I just want you to know that." He said, a sympathetic tone to his voice and gestures that I could not pass up.

"Is there something wrong?" "No, no. Nothing wrong. I just wanted you to know from another person's perspective, and this person" he pointed to himself with two thumbs and I chuckled. "has been here longer than he has, how much you mean to him." "Thank you so much."

I put my hand on his shoulder and couldn't help but suspect that he was keeping something from me. "I appreciate the gesture. Sadly, there's no one here that could prove how much I love him but, between you and me, he's the only man I've ever kissed." I whispered to him.

"So he's your first love?" He asked. "No, not really. I loved once before. So deeply that when I realized I had never been reciprocated, I thought I would break into small pieces from the heartache." He smiled a sympathetic smile and put his hand on my shoulder. "Well, trust me, you're in good hands now." The speakers blared that it was time to announce the line-ups and he pointed me to my seats.

"Enjoy yourself, Ana María." "Thank you for everything, Jordi." I kissed his cheek and left a red mark from my bright lipstick. He covered it with his hand and smiled. "See you soon!" I walked to my seats and sat close to the middle. I had an excellent view from here.

I took in my surroundings and there was a girl in the VIP box. But she was not at all interested in what was about to happen on the pitch. She must've felt me staring at her because she looked up from her phone and I smiled. She smiled back and I said: "Hi. I'm Ana María."

"Hello, Ana María. I am Thea. What brings you to the Mini Estadi's VIP box?" She stood up from her seat and came to sit beside me. I welcomed the company and answered her: "My boyfriend, Sergi Samper." "Oohh, you're Samper's girl! About time he brought you around. I'm Patric's girlfriend. I barely ever come because I'm studying back home in Murcia and the trip is pretty long."

We started a pretty normal conversation where I'd found out she'd always thought obsessions with football were stupid but she loved Patric more than anything else in the world so she would support him no matter what. As the game began, I started explaining to her how everything worked. Suddenly, somebody else approached.

"Thea? You're actually watching the game?" She gasped sarcastically and I looked up at her. She smiled and I noticed the blonde had some sense of style: a beautiful white blouse, a turquoise skirt that was short at the front and long at the back and a stylish beige handbag.

"I'm Marta, Javier Espinosa's girlfriend." "Ana María." "She's Samper's girl. You know, the one he hasn't shut up about?" I covered my face in shame while we all laughed. "How could I not? He literally cannot talk two sentences without mentioning you. He hasn't been like this with any other girl. And we're not just saying that." She went around my seat in the corner so she could sit beside Thea.

"The security guard up front said something very similar." I laughed as I looked down. "It's just something very new to me and sometimes, it's little overwhelming to be experiencing it with a public figure like him." They both nodded because they understood.

"Yeah, I get it. I mean, I never had to be careful about what I said out on the streets before I started dating Patric. Now I have to be mindful because everybody's listening, trying to get something they can blow completely out of proportion." "Thankfully, it's not as bad as with first team players." Interjected Marta and we all agreed. "Yeah. I can only imagine how bad it gets with all the press in front of your house just waiting to see you go out for coffee."

They both laughed at my comment and then we actually started paying attention to the game. Everyone seemed to be in the pace and they had a few good plays but the ball just wouldn't go in. Denis was on the bench and I knew he'd be the game-changer. He almost always was.

Thea went to buy some chicken caesar wraps at half-time and Marta and I kept chatting until she got back. Turns out, they weren'd bad at all. This was another thing that had my nerves pretty wrecked. I was nervous that maybe I wouldn't fit in with them and maybe they'd make fun of me behind my back like I'd been used to when I was in high school. But these two didn't seem like that type of girls.
