"Liam, I'm done walking! It's hot and my feet hurt. Aren't there cars or Uber here?"

"Yes, but driving takes forever. Have you seen Cali traffic? We can have six lanes and no one will get anywhere. Besides, we are only a mile away."

"A mile! That's like... two miles too long." I am so exasperated!

"Okay, how about I carry you?"

"Listen, I'm not into the whole 'damsel in destress' thing."

"You won't be the damsel. You'll just be in less pain. I'll piggyback if you are more comfortable." He says pleadingly.

"Fine! I just don't like the idea of this arrangement. It feels too much like a date, and I don't do that."

"You don't do what? Laugh? Smile? Enjoy yourself? It's not a date, I'll call friends to meet us if you are that worried of it looking like a date. Besides, you aren't my type."

"Bitch, I'm beautiful!" I say quickly while jumping onto his back.

He bust into laughter at my random remark. His body rolls while the laughter courses through his muscles.

"Sure, I'm glad that you have such a strong self-esteem. I wasn't meaning it as an insult. I'm just saying that you don't have to worry about me asking you out."

The Michael Myers ringtone breaks the new silence. Liam looks at me weirdly.

"Do I even want to know?" He asks.

"For your information, this is my ringtone for everyone. It is my ringtone because my last name is Myers."

(A/N: Michael Myers is my actual ringtone. My maiden name (recently married) is Myers. I thought this would be a cool pun. Funny story: My brother was in the hospital; I was walking through the hospital when my mom calls me. Everyone is giving me weird looks about my ringtone...in a hospital. Then I answered cheerfully, "Hi, Mom!" :) )

"No, it's not."

"Fine, it's because I don't like this guy."

"Ahhhhhh, he an ex-boyfriend?"

"Ew! No!!!"

"Creep in your class?"

"No. He's just someone who should have died 13 years ago."

"Ouch, harsh and pretty bitchy."

"He's the reason my dad is dead!"

"I heard about this. Your dad died saving a kid, right?"

"Yes, he's our age."

"I'm sorry, Analiese. I know that must be hard. I know that we just met, but I am here for you if you need anything. Even if you just need someone to listen."

"Thanks, Liam. That means a lot."

"Of course. Oh, looks like we made it."

I look at the sign of the restaurant, "In-n-Out." This should be interesting.

"Okay, let me walk in first. I'll find my friends."

"Fine."

Liam walks in and obstructs my view. Suddenly Liam stops.

"Analiese, these are my friends. Left over, there's Easton, Weston, and-"

"Oh, hell no!"
