Light's POV
Me and (Y/n) have been dating since the beggining of high school. She used to be so happy and full of joy but lately I've noticed she's been rather distant and reserved. So i planned something special for our graduation night.
I was gonna give her a promise ring. So that after college we can get married and be together like we always wanted.
After the Ceremony I found her and hugged her tight. "(Y/n)! We did it!" I smiled twirling her around. "Yeah... We graduated... Yaaay..." She said looking down. 'Why is she acting like this...?' I cupped her cheek. "(Y/n), sweety, why don't we go to my house and we can relax? We can stop by the store and grab (fav snacks) and then we can watch whatever you want. Does that sound better than our fancy dinner plans?"
She looked up at me surprised. "B-but you already made tge reservations a-and it wasn't ch-cheap... I..." She started tearing up and looked. "(Y/n)... Sweetheart i don't care about that. I just want you to be happy. You've been so down lately and i just want you to be ok." I lifted her chin so she was looking at me, and wiped her tears. "Makayla I love you. Truly. Now, lets go to the store and your precious (fav snacks/drinks) and go home." She smiled weakly at me and nodded hugging me.
(Y/n)'s POV
I wish I could be happy. We had worked so hard to graduate but all i could think about is how my family hadn't been there. None of them had seemed to care as i got further and further in school and it, along with other things, had been making me feel more and more depressed. I felt worthless and started thinking Light really didn't want to be with me. Why would he when my own family didn't even care? But here I was in his room waiting for him to stop writing in his notebook that I wasn't allowed to look at and curls up in his bed hugging his pillow as i thought about everything.
"H-hey Light...?" I asked as i sat up fidgiting with the pillow. "Yes, my love?" He said, looking at me with concern in his eyes. "W-well.. I.. I w-was wondering... Why.. Why are you w-with me...? I mean my own family doesn't even care so i just..." I started tearing up and looked down, trying to hide it.
I suddenly felt arms around me and looked up at him, haven't even heard him get up from his desk. "(Y/n), please don't think like that... I love you. Is that why you've been so down lately?" I nodded wiping my eyes as he pulled away keeping his hands on my shoulders. "Yes.. I just feel so worthless... I ruin everything... Just look at tonight.. You had made plans and because of me they got thrown away..."
He pulled me closer and pet my hair soothingly. "(Y/n) I chose to change our plans because I knew you wouldn't enjoy yourself. You're upset about your family and I would rather sit here with you like this than dress up and go anywhere when you wouldn't be happy." He lifted my chin and again wiped my tears kissing me softly. "I love you for you (Y/n). Nothing more, nothing less." I smiled and hugged him.
Maybe that would be enough...
