"Write about not being able to see ahead of you. "

You step out of your house, rather unwillingly, for who would want to leave the warmth and comfort of their homes and move outside? It is chilly, autumn making way for winter and however, tempting it is to stay snuggled in the blankets, one has to earn a living, which means leaving the house to make the commute to the office.

So there you are, around eight in the morning, standing at the steps of your house, staring at...thick greyish white clouds hovering above the ground. Nothing is visible, yet braving it, you take a few steps forward only to be enveloped by damp wisps.

Hoping to improve your radius of vision, you stretch out your hand into the heavy mists, only to have the same disappear into the fog. You are grown up enough to understand that it is not a monster who has made off with your hand, but that the thick fog has reduced the visibility to arm's length. (If you are an accountant or remotely connected to the finance field, you could laugh at the situation, any transaction at arm's length is considered fair, here too, fog or mist at more than an arm's length would be sunny.)

Okay enough of bad analogies, you shrug off the temptation to slink into your home and snooze till the sun disperses the fog, you have no choice but to proceed. Since you are familiar with the layout, you take cautious steps to reach your car, glad for the safe comfort the cozy interiors provide. It makes no difference that you know the scientific explanations as to how fogs are formed, walking through one does give a creepy feeling.

Once the car is started you relax a bit, the headlights on high beam, do improve the visibility, and the edges are now a pale gold rather than a dull grey. However, it is a long ride to office, a twenty minute ride that takes at least twice as much and strains you, for you have to be extra vigilant while driving; luckily, the other drivers seem to be equally cautious, so you reach office, tired but safe.

The walk from the parking lot to the office lobby is easier, the fog seems to be dissipating and the thought of being able to see the sun, lends a spring to your step. And during the coffee break, as you stare out of your cabin window, the skies are a scintillating blue with white puffy clouds, appearing all the more bright, as though the fog cleared the dust and sparkled up the atmosphere for us.
