Lauren had overheard all of the gory details of Evie's evil plan and it sickened her. She felt useless, she knew the exact things that could save her best friend from turmoil and she couldn't do anything.
Lauren had no will to live, she hadn't seen her baby in ages. But Lauren's life wasn't completely useless, she had over heard Evie talking to Alex, she had said that they couldn't carry out their plan until Lauren was dead, so Lauren had come up with a counter-plan, her plan was to procrastinate in doing the chores and jobs Evie had given her, because she knew Evie wouldn't kill her until she had down what her 'master' had made her do.
The day had finally come, Alex wanted to meet Lauren and wanted to make her feel so much pain that she would beg for mercy, and then he hoped she would ask for death. Alex's mind was a place so messed up and impure that it would remind someone of the gates of hell.
Alex told Lauren that she would be dead by dawn and that she stood no chance when he gets the chance to get his hands on her. Alex expected her to cry or scream, but she defied his expectations and just sat there, smiling, she knew that she would die to save Abby's life if it came to it, but she hoped that Abby would save Lauren's life if it came to it.
