the couple walked into mike's house laughing, livening up the silent home.
"why is your family never home?" max asked as she looked around at the empty rooms.
"well nance is moved out, obviously. my dad is always on a business trip somewhere.
holly is usually at a friend's house. my mom just can't stand to stay home all day so she finds something to do," mike replied.
his family had kind of fallen apart as the years went on.
max knew a thing or two about that, so maybe that contributed to them getting closer.
"i mean.. i'm not complaining," max said with a smirk. her boyfriend laughed at her before kissing her.
"you staying the night?" he asked as he walked into the kitchen. she shrugged, "why not?"
"okay. i wanna take you somewhere then," mike replied.
he got out two glasses and poured orange juice. the daily after school snack for the two.
"ooh, like a date?" max asked, intrigued.
"exactly."
she nodded smugly. "we've never been on an actual date before."
mike smiled at his girlfriend. "and what a tragedy that is."
