Days have passed by since the whole window incident. You'd done your best to ignore it, but it was hard when Jerome seemed to be everywhere in school. Neither of you had spoken to each other, but the awkward eye contact seemed to be happening more often. You would always look away, and continue with your day, but it had annoyed you.

You grabbed the books for your next class from your locker. Sadly, it was only second period, so school was long from over. You pushed yourself to continue down the hall to your class, instead of simply skipping. You had already gotten in trouble twice for skipping. One more strike, and you were done. It normally wouldn't matter to you, but to get out of Gotham, you would need your education.

"Hey!" Somebody shouted. You ignored it, knowing they couldn't be talking to you, and kept pushing through the crowd of people in the hallway. "Hey, Y/N! Wait up!" They shouted again. You knitted your eyebrows and stopped. You slowly turned around, and saw none other than Jerome Valeska running towards you.

You rolled your eyes and continued through the crowd. You groaned as he kept running towards you, and, eventually, reached you. "Hey," he greeted. You looked up at him in annoyance. "What do you want?" You asked. He chuckled awkwardly, running his hand through his hair. He does that a lot more than he used to.

"I just wanted to talk with ya. I mean, we haven't talked in forever! Can't a man just talk to his childhood best friend!?" He exclaimed. You looked at him again, this time, in annoyance and anger. "Man? Please, Jerome. If you're anything like you used to be, which, it doesn't seem like it, only one thing remains the same: you're a boy. The Jerome I knew was in no rush to become a man. Except when it came to moving out," you recalled.

His cheeks flushed as he nodded. "Yeah. I guess we've both changed a lot, huh?" You stopped outside of your classroom. You turned to him, hoping to finally get rid of him. "Listen, Valeska. You don't know anything about me anymore. We were friends once upon a time, but that fairytale is over. Welcome to the real world. Now, why don't you go and find your cunt ass friends to talk to? I mean, can't a boy just leave his ex-best friend alone!?" You mocked.

He stared at you in shock. He opened his mouth to say something, but was cut off my his friends running up to him. "Yo, Valeska! Where've you been, man?" They clapped him on his shoulder, and turned to you. "Bro, What are you doing with Wednesday Adams?" A boy, you noticed as Mason, asked. The others laughed, while you stared at Jerome expectantly. You knew exactly what he was going to do. Jerome forced out a laugh. "She was supposed to write my paper for Psychology, but the idiot forgot," he lied.

You smirked and nodded at him. "Like I said, Jerome. You might have changed, but you'll always just be a childish, little boy," you repeated. You walked into the class as his friends laughed, whooped, and made fun of him. You were just hoping that you wouldn't be talking to him again.
