From Maisie:

Our teacher had a kindergarten teacher bring her class over. So we're sitting in on their show and tell.... I wasn't expecting a kid to bring his coat for show and tell.

From Levi:

It must be a special coat.

From Maisie:

It's covered in rubber duckies.

From Levi:

He likes ducks.

From Maisie:

Another kid asked him why it was special to him and he said he likes baths with his rubber ducky Carl.

From Levi:

Carl is a good name.

From Maisie:

Carl is a girl rubber ducky with scuba gear.

From Levi:

Mm, I suddenly like Carl a lot more.

From Maisie:

I bet you do..

From Levi:

I'm outside if you want to sneak away. I'm standing by the brick wall near the community garden.

From Maisie:

You must not like work these days, Levingston.

From Levi:

I like you more.

From Maisie:

Cute. I'll be right there.

I told my teacher that I needed to use the bathroom and she didn't hesitate to hand me a pass. ---If she had more questions as to why I was gone for so long later, I already had my answer prepped. The chimichanga from lunch did not sit so well.

I made it to the back of the school without drawing any attention on myself. I knew I was safe with the pass in my hand.

I pushed open the back, double doors and as soon as I stepped outside, a cold wind sent chills down my spine.

Weather is not cold like this in North Carolina.
