Chris's POV

A couple of hours later Jake and I stood at the parking lot of my dorm near Tyler's car. It was a little after 3 pm. The scene seemed so familiar to me. Last time we had stood like that with his departure impending things had gone horribly wrong for us. As we stood there I hoped it would not be like the last time.

Tyler's call earlier had taken me by surprise, even more when he said Jake wanted to talk to me. When Jake didn't say anything I walked away feeling like an idiot. But he had stopped me, reversing tears that were without a doubt going to make their way across my face. Being hurt once was painful enough. Being hurt repeatedly was excruciatingly painful, no matter how strong I was becoming.

When he asked to talk in my room I felt a little at ease. Surely he wasn't going to repeat what he'd said the previous day. What he ended up saying was music to my ears. I opened up to him about my insecurities and he didn't laugh. Instead he made me feel good about myself, worthy. It felt like a dream, but it was reality. He was my boyfriend again. He was mine and I was his, his Chrissie.

My thoughts drowned out and my eyes focused on the person in front of me. I wrapped my arms around his waist, placing my head on his chest. It wasn't a soft chest, but it gave me a calm feeling, like everything was okay.

He placed his hands around me.

"I love you", I whispered.

"I love you too", he said the words I'd never get tired of hearing, only if they came from him.

He removed my face from his chest and cupped it, placing a lingering kiss on them. I reveled in the kiss, moving my lips with his, finding a rhythm that we were both comfortable with.

He pulled back. "I have to go".

I placed my hands tightly around his waist, making a circle that he admittedly would find easy to get out of if he wanted. My jelly arms weren't a match for his strength.

"I know", I said quietly.

"Don't be sad Chrissie. I have to get back to college. But I'll visit the next weekend, the whole weekend", he said. "I'm going to get us an apartment here and we'll spend the whole day together and get tired of each other".

I grinned. "I'll never get tired of you".

"Oh, you are just saying", he said and grabbed my butt unexpectedly with one hand. "Think you can wait that long?"

"I'll try", I said, moving myself even closer to him. There wasn't any closer to go but it didn't matter.

We kissed again until we heard Tyler yelling at us to stop.

"I have to go, he might just leave me here", Jake said.

"Go. I'll wait...impatiently", I said.

He smiled and walked to the car. He got in and I walked to the driver's side.

"Drive safe", I told Tyler.

"I'm not like your boyfriend man", he said.

"Hey! I was upset!" Jake protested.

"Whatever. Bye Chris", Tyler said as he started the engine.

I watched the car back out of parking. It made its way towards the main gate, exited and disappeared from my sight.

I sighed in a mixture of happiness and sadness. I couldn't wait for Friday.
