30 days (1 month) before.

I grin as I zip up my mini-suitcase.

Today, Miles and his family are taking me to their beach house for five days. Miles mother offered a few days ago and were more than happy to take me.

I hear the beep of a car horn and pull up the handle to the suitcase before retrieving my phone and charger from the outlet.

Rushing down the staircase, I nearly trip on the last step. This, unfortunately, happens a lot when I'm rushing down these stairs.

"Woah!" My mother exclaims as my hand touches the doorknob "Forget something?" I turn on my heels to find my mother standing in the lounge room entry way laughing at me.

I give her a quick hug before I turn to open the front door. As the door squeaks open, I'm not prepared for the dark brown curls and the cute giggle of Eleanor, jumping up to try 'scare' me, as it seemed. Behind her, Miles appears with a laugh.

"Ellie, you can't scare her like that. You have to hide somewhere then jump out and scare her," Ellie crosses her arms in annoyance, pouting her lower lip at Miles.

"Don't worry Ellie," I kneel down to her height with a grin and whisper into her ear "We'll scare him sometime down at the beach house for payback. What do you think?"

Ellie's eyes shine and she nods before skipping off happily back to the car. I grab hold of the handle of my suitcase and wheel it out, my phone and charger now in one of the suitcase pockets.

"Bye mum!" I shout back, closing the front door only to hear my mother shout back a reply before the door clicked shut.

I place the suitcase on the bed and plug my charger into the outlet, before placing my phone on charge.

I, then text my mum to let her know I got there safely. For some reason, my mother has trust issues with me.

I feel arms wrap around my waist pulling me closer and I chuckled.

"Hello, Miles." I smile.

"Hey," he giggles adorably, before letting me go. I spin around to face him and wrap my arms around his neck.

"So what did you need exactly," I grin, feeling like electricity was zapping me where his hands were placed on my waist.

"I just wanted to see if you were settled in," he grins. I laugh, rolling my eyes at him.

"Yeah right, you just wanted to see me," I teased and he started chuckling. Out of nowhere we swapped sides, myself facing the window instead of the door.

"Okay, you got me," he grinned, leaning down to kiss me.

Then, he did the most unexpected thing. He held up one of my bras and started laughing as he held it up at my eye level. I shrieked in embarrassment, lunging my arm forward to snatch it from him.

"Nice bra," he teased.

"Miles!" I squealed, except he ducked around me and dashed down the hallway, teasing me.

I raced after him, but instead of stopping he dashed around the lounge room, into the kitchen, until he was back down the hallway near the end of the hallway where my room was located.

I sprinted, until I had himself held up in my room. As I stepped closer to him, I noticed he'd dropped the bra but I didn't care, I wanted payback.

I pushed him backwards onto the bed, then pinned him by the arms tormenting him as he begged for mercy.

"Okay! Truce!" He threw his head back laughing and as I removed my grip from his arms and my knees from his legs. Then, he grabbed hold of my hands and pulled me closer to him. I could almost feel the body heat.

He pulled me closer, until our lips crashed onto each other's. He held me closer to him and in between kisses he laughed and I tried not to giggle myself.

"Ew!" Miles and I pulled back, noticing Eleanor standing by my bedroom door with a disgusted look on her face. I awkwardly managed to get myself off of Miles.

Miles ushered Ellie out of the room and once he'd closed the door he turned back to me with another grin.

I passed the ball back to Miles and he passed it back to me and I tried to go for a shot, which misses.

"You suck at sports, remember?"

"Shutup, Miles." I roll my eyes. Miles passes the ball back to me, then I gently pass it to Eleanor.

Eleanor does her best to pass it to Miles, but instead it doesn't go very far.

"Why don't we play a game. One on one?" Miles suggests but I shake my head.

"We'd need to include Ellie. She's not going to be able to shoot any goal with the basket being that height."

"You could always help her." He suggests.

"That's cheating, idiot." I poke my tongue at him.

Miles passes the ball to Ellie as gentle and not as much power as he can, but instead it rolls down the long stretched driveway.

"I'll get it!" Eleanor races off down the driveway and we both watch her as she does so.

We walk further down the driveway just in case, until something didn't seem right.

Miles was sprinting off down the driveway before I had a chance to understand what was going on.

That's when I realised a car was speeding down the usually quiet street. I took off down the driveway, too.

"Ellie!" Miles screamed after her, and as I tried to catch up I make out the silver car nearing Ellie.

Ellie starts to scream in panic when Miles gets to the end of the driveway.

The car is at least a meter from Ellie when Miles grabs hold of Ellie's waist and pulls her to safety.

Miles pulls Ellie into his arms, and the loud sobs coming from Ellie break my heart. I kneel down beside her and place a hand on her shoulder for comfort.

I exchange a look with Miles who looks like he's going to break down any minute. I can't help but shedding a tear as my heart hammers in my chest.

Hello 🙊

Extra long chapter for you all.

I had this planned (of course) and this is kind of linked to something later on. (That's all I'll say)
