Reflection in the Water - A Breath of the Wild Fanfiction

Chapter 1

Everything was set aflame, slowly burning to the ground underneath the night sky. The sounds of screams and terror went silent in an instant. Blood stained the dirt as more kept getting spilt in seconds. It was a night of massacre, a night of an unforgettable scene in the eyes of a teenage girl, the only survivor left in her village.

That girl was running as fast as she could with wounds that were unbearable. She didn't care at the moment that she was hurt, she cared more about making it out of there alive. She felt the adrenaline rush in her veins as she kept telling herself to keep running, don't look back.

An arrow shot right next to her face, barely missing a centimeter as it cut her cheek. A little bit of blood ran down her face, but she was determined not to die tonight.

Since her village was surrounded by a great vast of water, she jumped in, swimming as fast as she can go. In the water, she hid behind a rock and sneakily looked at the spot where she was before. She saw the group who caused her village to go down in flames searching for her in the water. They eventually gave up looking, and headed towards the village that was once there.

Quietly sighing in relief, she swam near a wooden raft that was nearby. She got herself out of the water, and onto the raft. She grabbed the oar that was lying flat down, and began rowing wherever the raft will take her.

In that girl's mind, she pictured the traumatic experience of seeing her own family getting killed right before her eyes. Not in a hundred years she would think this would ever happen. The sight of her older brother covered in blood, the sound of her mother's screams, and the expression on her father's face...

She felt something hot running down her face. Her eyes were blurring her vision as she was trying to row. She wiped away her tears with her torn sleeve, trying to pull herself together even though it was hard at the moment. She began wondering where this raft were lead to, what she would end up doing from now on. She lost her home and her family, so how could she start a new life so easily if the village she lived in was all she ever known?
