Searing pain dug into my eyes.
I gripped my face in my hands, crying out in pain, while someone with a megaphone spoke from nearby.
"Attention, mutants," a gruff voice began. "We have come for the girl. You have two options. Surrender her to us peacefully and we'll kill you on sight. Put up a fight and we'll take you to our nearest lab facility and make you wish you'd taken the first offer."
