As the holidays went by the grass was coming out and the snow was disappearing ready for the spring time but today Remus was teaching me the Patronus charm and Moody was here with Sirius. There was a large trunk in the room.

"Ah, there you are Worth. You came. Are you sure about this, Worth? This is very advanced magic. Well beyond Ordinary Wizarding Level." Remus said to her as he was on the balcony. He was worried that she might not be able to get it and her being frustrated.

"I'm sure. If that bastard can do it, I need to know how too." I said with determination. I won't be weak. I won't be vulnerable to any Dementors especially if they work for Voldemort.

"Language, Worth." Moody said gruffly but I looked to him and nodded and Sirius looked to her concerned. He didn't want her to get hurt but also about the ferocity she's showing recently.

"Well everything's prepared. Now. The spell I'm going to teach you is called the Patronus Charm. Ever hear of it?" Remus asked and I thought of it. Didn't I read about that somewhere?

"I have. It's supposed to be a positive force. Not everyone can do it." I said and Remus smiled.

"Correct." Remus said as he came down. "A Patronus is a kind of positive force. For the wizard who can conjure one, the Patronus works something like a shield. The Dementor feeds on it instead of him." Remus informed as he sat down. "But in order for it to work, you must think of a memory. And not just any. This memory needs to be a very happy memory, a very powerful. Can you do this?" Remus asked because he knew that it was going to be difficult with her past and very few pleasant memories.

I was concerned about this because I didn't believe I had a good happy memory for the Patronus. I thought about it and thought of one but I don't know and I nodded. "Concentrate. Explore your past. Do you have a memory?" Remus asked but was concerned within the eyes. He knew she might not have the strongest happy memory. "Allow it fill you up. Lose yourself in it. Then speak the incantation: Expecto Patronum. Without your wand..." Remus said to her as I had my eyes closed and Moody and Sirius was watching her.

"Expecto Patronum..." I said to that softly.

"Very good. Shall we?" Remus asked and I opened my eyes. "Wand at the ready." Remus said to her and I held my wand up with determination.

Remus, watching closely, reaches over, grips the lid of the trunk...black smoke rose and a Dementor came out looking particularly horrific.

I felt the effects instantly. "Expecto Patronum!" I shouted at it but nothing came as candles went out. A chilled breeze fills the chamber. A scream echoes distantly. My hand were trembling. My eyes begin to roll up...

"Expecto... Expect..." I said but everyone went weird as I collapsed into unconsciousness.

When I came too I heard Remus. "Here we go. Come on. Sit up. Deep breathes." Remus said helping Worth up with Moody as Sirius looked very concerned. "It's all right. I didn't expect you to get it the first time. That would have been remarkable." Remus said and then got something and passed it to Worth who looked to it.

"That's one nasty Dementor." I said to that as I tasted the chocolate and licked my lips of the taste savouring it.

"Boggart, Worth. The real thing would be much, much worse. Just out of interest, what were you thinking of? What memory did you choose?" Moody asked and Sirius sat by her.

"The first time I rode a broom." I muttered to that one looking down. I knew it wasn't strong enough but I can't think of many more memories that I was the most happiest at.

"That's not good enough, Worth. Not nearly." Remus informed and I stood there against the wall. As he said that, something came a memory I believe or just my imagination but it seemed so real to me back then and I sensed the candles as I go to them.

"There's another, I can't understand it really. I mean, it's not ordinary but it's the happiest I've ever felt. But I've never felt it...it's complicated." I said and looked to Remus.

"Is it strong?" Remus asked and I look to him with emotion and nodded. Moody nodded. "Then let's give it a try." Remus informed and I take a deep breathe to calm my nerve and then position myself.

"You feel ready?" Moody asked and I looked towards him.

"Just do it!" I said with fierceness in my voice and Moody nodded and he went to the trunk this time and and he unlocked it and lifted it and a chill fills the air. The hair skates off of my forehead. I glared and set my jaw.

"Expecto Patronum!" Nothing came out and my eyes I felt power in them as I knew that they glowed like Hermione informed me. I just felt power. "Expecto Patronum!" I yelled with fierceness in and suddenly my hand trembles as my whole body trembles but I hold my ground, when a silver light bursts from the end of my wand hovering between me and the Dementor.

I felt the power and I forced the Dementor back with my eyes steeled with determination of not letting it win me again and the Dementor went to the trunk, and Moody looked very much in disbelief as Sirius had a look of joy on his dog face but with shock and disbelief but Remus looked like he was purely enjoying it.

"Yes!" Remus said as he slammed the trunk down and Moody locked it shut. I stumbled back as the power went and Sirius steadied her. "Well done, Worth. Well done!" Remus said to her proudly

"I think I've had enough. For today." I said to him and Moody was chuckling gruffly.

"Yes. Sit down. Here. Eat this, it helps. It really helps." Remus said and he wouldn't have let her continue anyways due to how much energy it took from her and he handed her a piece of chocolate who took it with a lick of her lips and Remus chuckled. "And just so you know, Worth, I think you would have given Dumbledore a run for his money."

"And believe me that's saying something." Moody said gruffly as Sirius panted and I felt happy inside for that. "So what were you thinking of?" Moody asked gruffly and I looked off in the distance remembering what I did.

"I'm not positive. I was thinking. When I was young going through what I was, I always felt alone and afraid." I said quietly and Moody looked confused. "But then...someone came. Someone protected me. They told me everything would be all right and that someone would care. That was the memory I chose. My happiest memory and I don't think it's real." I said to them and Sirius felt a rush of sadness and so did Remus.

I remembered someone there guiding me and giving me that hope and the strength to continue and I believed them but I didn't even know if it was real, since Lily and James didn't see them but they protected me within my sleep. That was the memory I chose. And I'd never ever let that go either because with it...I felt safe.
