As the engine of the motorbike roars into the dark night, Allie savors the ounce of tranquility that she has been awarded. Amongst the noise of the engine, she can still hear the wind that hurtles towards her and pushes her dark hair from her face. The trees around her disappear from her vision as fast as they came into it. But as soon as one goes, another one replaces it like clockwork. The road in front of her stretches onward, curving with the side of the hill that she is riding on.
If this is what freedom is, she craves it.
Into the night they ride, the little baby is fast asleep in her sidecar whilst Allie focuses on the long road ahead. Distance is all that matters now. Distance away from HYDRA, away from the fight and away from her past.
And Allie isn't going to stop for anything. Even if the road is being burnt down by a fire, she would bear the pain and drive through the scorching flames. No amount of agony will ever make her go back to HYDRA. At least not willingly.
She looks at the fuel gauge and frowns, the bike is running low but they should make it into the next town before they run out of fuel. But where is she going to get the money for fuel? They also need a place for the night while she figures out what the hell that she is going to do. And what the hell is she going to do about the baby?
Allie quickly averts her eyes to the sidecar and sees that the baby has fallen asleep, the little rise and fall of her chest indicating that she still, in fact, is alive. She then turns her gaze back to the road and lets out a sigh of relief when she sees that the closest town is only 5 kilometers away.
Before she even realizes, she has pulled up outside of a pub on the main street. She laboriously pulls herself off of the bike and stretches her stiff body. As she regains movement in her limbs, she looks around the small town and tries to note places that could offer the two of them some shelter, food or fuel. The dim light posts barely light up the street but from what she can see is that down the road there is a fairly ramshackled inn that would more than likely have room to spare for the night.
Through the darkness, the old wooden exterior of the inn is apparent. Small chips and dents showcase the weathering it has endured. A once beautiful and lively porch is now barely holding itself together as a result of the lack of resources available. The beige curtains had been drawn, covering the eyes of the outside world from peering in. 'It's good enough for the night,' she thinks to herself as she walks over and kneels by the baby.
