You were in your room, studying for something your father wanted you to know. Your carpet was a green color and the walls were white. Your room had Life Foundation's posters and pictures of you and your dad, when you were younger, all over the sides. You didn't have any windows because your dad liked to make sure you were safe. So, you got used to only artificial light and not real light. You crossed your leg over your right one and tapped your foot. You didn't mind studying for genetics, not one bit. Genetics is what makes the base line for all of your body's functions and characteristics, it's quite fascinating! You flipped the page of your book and heard a knock at the door. You tore your eyes off the page and looked at the door. "Huh?" "(Y/n), sweetie!" Your father called out to you. "Oh, sorry, come on!" You said, slapping your book shut, making a clap sound. Your father opened the door and adjusted his tie, clearing his throat. "(Y/n), are you ready to start the day?" He asked you. You leaned back and then leaned forward, hopping off your bed, walking to him. "Yeah! It's going to be so cool, right!?" You cheered, not being able to contain your joy. To be honest, you had forgotten up until the point where he came in with his new suit on. Your dad would never wear a different suit unless something big was happening. Your father smiled and patted you on the head. "Of course it will be cool." Your dad tapped you on the nose and you giggled. "Why don't you get dressed and meet me downstairs?" He said, pointing to your new Life jacket that he made for you. "Yeah, I will!" You smiled. "Good, see you then." He closed the door and you threw your closet door open, finding the neatest clothes you had. You tapped your chin and looked at your choices, which was not much to work with. The only colors you had were green, white, and grey. They were of course colors of the Life Foundation's, but even then, a different wardrobe would be nice once in a while. However, your dad liked when you wore these colors, and you didn't have much to complain about either. It's not like you were trying to impress anyone but your father. Your mother died shortly after giving birth to you, and that was because of something in her DNA, that's why your dad is pressuring his dream of understanding genetics. You decided to pick out the light green shirt and you put it on, skipping over to your mirror. You grabbed your lab coat on the way, and you pulled it over your arms, adjusting it so it would look presentable. It was a long lab coat, with the Life Foundation's symbol on your right side. You twirled in your outfit and giggled, blushing. (Hmm...somethings not right...ah!) You grabbed your little bow and put it into your hair, giggling. "There!" The little bow was a Life Foundation's symbol and it had green and white fabric on the sides. You looked at the door and exhaled, making yourself get all worked up. You giggled quick before you shot out the door and ran to the elevator, where your father was casually waiting. "Dad!" You called out to him, waving your hand. He lifted his head up from his phone, and smiled. He held his arms out and you ran into his arms, giving him a big hug. "Woah, (Y/n)! What's with the sudden energy?" He laughed, spinning you around. "Nothing! I just finally get to see what my daddy does!" You cheered. He chuckled and pushed the elevator button to go down. "Ok, you ready?" He asked you. "Yes!" You nodded, noticing your hair was not brushed. "Umm..." You hesitated, but you licked you hand and tried to slik your hair down. Then your dad chuckled and took your brush out of his pocket. "Honestly, (Y/n), you need to make sure you brush your hair before something like this." You took the brush and straightened your puffy hair down. "I know, I know, but I was so excited to start the day with you, I forgot!" You giggled, fixing that one piece of hair above your eye. The elevator doors opened and you looked at your dad and smiled. "Come on, no time to waste." He held you hand and walked you into the elevator, causing the doors to slowly slide closed. Your dad released your hand and pulled his phone out, holding his chin. "Ok, first off, I will have an introduction to the Life Foundation's with the kids...and then I will be having an interview with Mr. Eddie Brock." "Eddie Brock?" You asked, tilting your head. You heard his name before, he was the guy who was a news reporter, and a cute one to. He would always tell people about the latest news and what was wrong in our world. You enjoyed watching him, but your dad didn't like him to much. "Yes, you know him." Your father said, watching the numbers on the elevator go down. "Hmm...can I meet him!?" You asked him, excited, jumping up and down. Your father raised his eye brow at you and shook his head. "No, this man is not someone you want to toy with." You swayed your body side to side and tilted your head. "Toy with? Dad, I know better than to toy with someone that could hurt our business." You said in a serious tone. "I know you do." Your father turned to you and set his hands on your shoulders. "Because you're smart and beautiful, you take after your mother and me." He smiled, making you blush. "Hahah! St-stop it! You're making me blush!" You said, looking down at your feet. "Come on, we have a group of children to teach." The doors opened, and you stepped out with your father. People and workers alike starred at you, never really seeing you. You were on the news as a baby, but this is the first time they have seen you as a teenager. You were sixteen, soon going to be seventeen. No one has seen pictures of you growing up, you didn't even know if you had any either. Your father took you to a group of kids, which he told you about, but all he did was give lectures and boring stuff. You thought your father was more exciting than this, it was kind of a letdown. You stood on the side, watching your dad get along with the kids nicely. You twirled your hair and sighed, growing more and more bored. (Is this really what it's like to be my dad? A man who is as big and famous as this, gives little kids lecturers like this?) You leaned over and sighed, feeling more bored than before. You straightened up and thought to yourself. (Well...this is anti-climactic...didn't dad do cool stuff, like work with genetics?) "(Y/n)!" You snapped out of your day dreaming and saw your father pointing to you. "This is my daughter! She will be the next generation, just like you!" He said. All the kids looked at you in aww, amazed by you. You blushed and waved to them. "H-hi..." You managed to say to them. You could hear foot steps behind you and you turned around, seeing one of the lab assistants coming to you. "Mr. Drake, Eddie Brock is here." The lab assistants said to him. "Oh, yes! I am very sorry to leave you children, but I must go now." Your dad said, leaving the kids with an everlasting impression. The kids waved goodbye to him and he walked to you. "Come on." He smiled, tugging you along with him. You looked at your dad and then your feet. "So...can I at least say hi to Mr. Brock?" You asked, in a cute innocent voice. Your dad tilted his head side to side, mumbling to himself. This usually indicated that he was calculating something in his head, in this case, calculating the odds of you being able to see him. You laughed and pushed him a bit. "Dad! You don't need to calculate everything all the time!" You laughed. He playfully shoved back and laughed. "Hehehe! I'm sorry...ok fine, but just a 'hi', got it?" Dad was being very, very generous, considering he didn't like Eddie Brock in the first place. "Understood...can I get an autograph?" You asked him, being serious. You could tell by his angry glare that you were going to push your luck with being able to just see him. "Hahaha! I'm joking!" You lied, trying to play it off as a joke. Your dad lost his angry look and rolled his eyes. "You always did have an odd sense of humor, (Y/n)." You rubbed your neck and blushed. (Dang...I better not push my luck when I see Eddie...) You saw Eddie, standing with his camera crew and you instantly got cold feet. You both walked over to Eddie, who was much better looking in person. "Woah! Mr. Brock! I'm honored!" You smiled, reaching out to shake his hand. He raised his eyebrow and your father glared at Eddie and you. "Oh, and you are...?" He trailed off, taking your hand and shaking it. You felt a droplet of sweat run down your cheek once you could feel the heat from your father's glare pierce through you. "(Y/n) Drake!" You smiled. Introducing yourself to someone with your last name was different for a change. Then again, you didn't really introduce yourself to anyone. "Wait, you're Carlton Drake's daughter!? I didn't even know he had one!" Eddie said, amazed, gripping your hand tighter. He let your hand go and you moaned, shaking your numb hand off. Your dad patted your back, indicating that enough was enough. "Why don't you go on ahead, I'll meet you there?" You nodded, knowing that you had already pushed your luck enough. You nervously nodded and waved goodbye to Eddie. "See you later!" You skipped down the hallway and waited for your dad. You looked at your phone and started a timer, you saw the little watch run through the numbers, reaching five seconds. You waited and waited for your dad, but he never came back. Minutes had passed, and your dad was still no-where to be seen, it was like no one was coming for you. You peeked at your phone and saw the timer had reached about six minutes. For just standing here with a timer and nothing to do, six minutes felt like sixty years. You snuck behind the corner, of the wall, and saw your dad looking flustered at Eddie. "Huh?" You speed walked over to them and heard Eddie's voice. "So, is it true that you're using humans as test subjects?" Eddie asked, pushing to get his answer. "N-no, of course not, we-" "-Really? Because I have confidential evidence that you did do experiments on people." Eddie said, trying to ruin your dad's reputation. Your dad waved his hand over his neck, meaning to stop recording and the camera men shut it off. As if it was sixth sense, the security guards came in to handle Eddie. "Get him out of here." Your dad said. "Come on, go." The guards growled, pushing Eddie as he laughed. "Hey, hey, I didn't do anything!" He said as he was pushed out of the building. "Have a nice Life." Your father said, before turning around to you. His eyes shot open upon seeing you, clearly not knowing you were there. You looked at your feet, unsure of what just happened and looked at your dad. "Dad...?" You trailed off and sighed, not knowing how to ask or even handle this. "How long have you been there?" He asked you, shaking. "Are we really using people as test subjects?" You fought back tears, trying to put on a brave face. "Of course not. He was just trying to-" "-That's why you went into space, didn't you?" You cut him off, stomping your foot. "To find something else that you could test on humans!" He took a step back and hesitated. "You found something there that could change our lives forever and you...!" You started to cry, and you bolted to your room. "(Y/n)!" You wiped your tears away and pounded your fist into the up button for the elevator. Your dad was running after you, but you knew he couldn't make it in time. You walked in once the doors slid open, and you pushed the up button. As the doors closed, your dad had just arrived and tried to stop the door from closing, but the down button didn't work. The elevator was going up and you saw your father, looking up at you with sadness in his eyes. You looked away, crying and you wiped your tears away, not feeling the least bit sorry. You became calm once you walked out the elevator doors, but Eddie's words still rang through your head. You stood at your room door and remembered your dad's logic behind all of this. ('It is for the future. This is to ensure that we, as people, will live for years to come.') You shuck your head, not seeing how your dad could think like this. As a scientist to say the least, this was very absurd, no scientist would use a human as a test. You grabbed the door knob, sighing, and opened it. You locked the door behind you and you ripped the bow out of your hair, not caring if you took your hair out with it. You looked at the little green bow and you growled. "All lies!" You threw it into your room, sending it flying into the black abyss and you slumped down on the door, crying for the rest of the night.
