"I'm such an idiot!" I yelled to myself, sitting on the stairs.

"I'm so sorry, Jerome." Preston whimpered. "I- I'll leave, if you want. I just fucked up your relationship with him." he sighed.

"I just need some time to fix things with him." I mumbled, pulling Preston into a hug. "If things don't work out, I'll give you a call." I smiled a bit, putting a hint of a smile on Preston's lips before he went off to book his flight home.

I sighed, running a hand through my hair. It was time to piece together a plan to get Mitch back. I think I finally know how. But I had to go to someone for help...

I cleaned myself up before going to Mitch's house, and knocking on the door. I knew Michael answered, judging from his scowl.

"What do you want? Why did my brother come home crying?" He snapped.

"I fucked up, badly. I.. I need some help. I need to talk to you." I pleaded. He rolled his eyes.

"Is this gonna fix my babby of a brother?" he asked. I nodded.

"Hopefully." I answered. He sighed, stepping aside so I could go inside.

"This doesn't mean we're friends." he growled, sitting on the couch.

"I know." I murmured, sitting down across from him. "I just need to know a few things." I stated.

"Go ahead." he muttered.

"What's Mitch like when he's alone?" I asked.

"Sad, really. I'd keep him company once in a while, but it's so easy to fuck up a relationship with him." he sighed. I regarded him expectantly.

"I may or may not have taken his girlfriend at one point. But I just didn't want him dating her." He rolled his eyes.

"Why?" I asked curiously.

"Because she didn't deserve him." he mumbled. "Mitch is a great guy... I- I've just gotten used to throwing insults at him, because he got used to throwing insults at me." he shrugged.

"So, you're protective over Mitch?" I pressed.

"I guess so. Is it... is it hurting Mitch?" he asked worriedly.

"Well, it's certainly stopping me from giving him the love he deserves." I murmured.

"How do I know you're not just gonna dump him later?" he growled.

"Because I've never been in love with anyone else since I met him." I stated. He looked at me for a long time before speaking.

"Promise to never hurt my brother." he ordered.

"I promise." I smiled.

"Alright." he relented, sighing. "I don't know if it still stands, but Mich told me his dream date when we were younger." he informed me.

"Go on..." I urged.

"He wanted someone to combine a bunch of his favorite things in one date. Like, starting with some video games, then go out to dinner at a nice little diner, and then go and just lay by a lake at night." he smiled. "It sounds like a pretty good date to me."

"Then it's the one I'll take him on." I grinned. "Thanks, Mike."

"Treat him well, Jerome. or I'll make sure you see the other end of hell." he growled, before smiling with a laugh.

"I will.." I grinned. "You're a pretty good guy when you want to be." I smirked.

"Don't test me, then." He chuckled. "Hey Bit-- Mitch!" he called. "Come downstairs, your date's here."

"What date?" Mitch grumbled, coming downstairs. I felt so guilty, seeing Mitch's eyes all puffy and red from crying.

"This one, Mitch." I murmured, getting up and grabbing his wrist befor ehe could go upstairs.

"Let me treat you right, Mitch. Just give me one chance." I insisted.

"Why should I?" He snapped.

"Because I love you." I whispered. He sighed, biting his lip.

"Fine." he muttered. "Let me go get my wallet and stuff."

"Leave your wallet, Mitch. This is all on me." I smiled. He just chuckled, returning upstairs before he met me back at the door with his shoes and jacket on.

"Well? Where to, Jerome?" he asked.

"My house. I'm gonna whoop your ass at COD." I smirked. He grinned.

"Challenge accepted." He laughed.

-Timeskip-

"This... was a great evening." he whispered as we were laying on the bank of the lake. I looked up at the stars, then back at him.

"I'd hope so." I smiled.

"How'd you know what my perfect date was? I never told you." He asked.

"You told Mike." I shrugged. He frowned.

"You talked to Mike about that? I thought he hated us both."

I explained to him why Mike acted as he did.

"I thought she was a great girl... but she went on the cheat on lots of guys. I guess I would've been one of them, huh?" He grumbled.

"Sadly, yeah. But at least Mike took her, so you didn't get hurt." I pointed out.

"I suppose he really was just looking out for me." he admitted. "So.. all this time he was just looking out for me..." he trailed off. I nodded.

"What about Preston?" he asked suddenly.

"He's going back home." I replied. "He felt bad about almost ruining my chances with you."

"God.. now I feel horrible." he mumbled.

"Don't. Preston'll be fine." I smiled.

"Hey Jerome?" He murmured after a moment.

"Yeah biggums?" I asked.

"I love you." he breathed.

"I've been waiting for that for years." I beamed, turning my head and placing my lips on his. The kiss was just like I'd imagined it would me. Tingly, warm, soft, heartwarming. And full of love.
