My eyes widened as I realized what I would have to do in the next few minutes.

I Karen Potter would be duelling the single most evil wizard of his time, the man who killed my parents mercilessly.

All other noise in the room was blocked out as I breathed in and out heavily.

"Join your partners and begin duelling now!" I heard the Professor White shouted.

Riddle, still smirking, got up from his seat and drew his wand at me.

"Scared are we?" He taunted pointing at my hair which was now icy-blue.

I shook my hair and turned it back to ginger.

"You wish." I glared at him, saying the same thing Harry did when he duelled Malfoy.

Riddle lead me to an empty space in the classroom where we would duel.

I took my wand out from my robes and pointed it at him threateningly but Riddle merely chuckled.

I looked out of the corner of my eye and saw Summer being disarmed by her opponent.

It looked like Riddle and I were the only pair who hadn't started.

Riddle and I bowed to each other and poised our wands.

"Ebublio!" Riddle began.

"Impedimenta!" I flicked my wand coursing spell to freeze.

"Tarantallegra!" Riddle raised his wand.

"Protego!" I defended myself.

"Langlock!"

I felt my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth.

Riddle smiled coldly and pointed his wand at me. A blue spell shot towards me.

Damn! He was doing a non verbal spell.

I recognized this curse as the inflatus jinx.

Well two can play at this game.

Protego! I mentally said and a white forcefield appeared in front of me.

Riddle stared at me, shocked.

I used this as an opportunity.

Flipendo! I swished my wand and knocked Riddle onto the ground.

Riddle got to his feet, he was very angry now.

"Confringo!" He yelled.

Oh this was bad. Anything that spell touches explodes into flames.

My hair was madly changing into different colours.

"Aguamenti!" I said the first spell that came into my head.

The two spells met half way between Riddle and me.

His was red and mine blue.

There was silence for a few moments and I could feel everyone watching us.

BOOM!

There was an explosion.

I was hurled across the classroom by an invisible force, fire reigning over me.

Fire was everywhere and the glass from the windows were shattering.

Glass impacted with my skin and I whimpered in pain.

The high-pitched screams were becoming dimmer as darkness covered my vision.
