THE GROUP OF PRETEENS SAT IN                homeroom, watching Ashley do the morning announcements on the small TV.

Most people wouldn't care about school announcements, but if they're coming from Degrassi, they always seem to contain something interesting. That's the great thing about the school, there's always something going on

"She's pretty suave." Jt complimented the older girl, while pronouncing suave wrong.

"It's not suave, it's suave." The short blonde corrected, smiling once she realized she sounded like Hermione Granger

"Television is so stressful." Liberty complained, glaring at the girl on the old screen, making Joey shake his head is disagreement, "Ashley doesn't seem stressed."

"No, she's like better than the people on the news. Calm and cool, a total natural." Manny complimented, agreeing with the boy's opinion

Ashley made a joke at the end of the announcement, which made everyone laugh. Liberty looked upset at the classes's reaction, but the Roberts girl decided not to comment on it.

"Lose their matches. Not bad." JT nodded in approval, restating the end of her joke

"That's my joke. I mean, I wrote it after I found it on the net." Liberty complained, wanting credit for the work she put in

"It's true, you know? You do all the work and Ashley takes all the glory. You should really talk to her." Emma suggested, feeling sympathy for the overworked girl

"Or quit. Why spend more time at school than you already have to?" Sean asked, joining the conversation

"You're going on for basketball." Baby argued, smirking at the irony of the boy's previous statement

"My social worker says it's beneficial. Personally, I couldn't give a rats a-" Sean started to rant, before Simpson ran into the classroom, throwing his stuff onto his desk, "Class, sorry for the delay."

"It just makes me mad that people think that Ashley is so funny and clever, when all she's doing is reading my words." Liberty groaned, bringing the group back to the original topic

"Yeah, a monkey could do that." Manny joked

Liberty took the group's encouragement to heart, appearing as the face of the morning announcements the next day. The poor girl barely got her start, and was already creating an embarrassing situation for herself.

"What happened to Ashely?" Sean asked, squinting at the small TV in front of him

"Do you think someone's gonna tell her?" Baby asked the group, referring to the fact that Liberty who was still not focusing on the streaming camera

Liberty, finally, look up at the camera, turning red when she noticed it was recording and attempted to give the announcements. She began stuttering over her words, making everyone internally cringe due to the second hand embarrassment the felt for the poor girl.
